I was quite pleased, second interview and got the job first got rejected due to experience so couldn't do nothing about that. Some poor hospital has employed me to work in their microbiology unit and train me up, who would of thought I'd get a job in the field I did my dissertation in, I guess hard work does pay .

I have a feeling our friend Mr. Butters will be laughing his way to the bank as he works his way up to six figures in his day job, while developing his secret identity as Microbeman where he invests his resources into his online consultancy and builds an empire to be reckoned with.

lol, it just so happens I am on my way to Chicago this week with my son for.... (drumroll please)........................................... ..................

              ComicCon Chicago.

No Cosplay for me though. The real thing is scary enough.

Butters, I'll do a little prospecting for you. Maybe I can get you a Microbeman movie deal.

Oh get over it. Do you really think he spent all those years learning his field because he found it boring or objectionable? I have a hard time feeling sorry for someone who just got a job in a field their interest is that strong in. He's going to love his work no matter who the hell owns the company and his salary will be sufficient enough that smart investing will do the rest for him.

        So yeah ---
        Congratulations Butters!

Congrats Mr B. I'm sure you will do well working in the field of Micro Biological Computers.

If you could cook me up one please, here are the specs:

              16 ounces of Bran

              A Terabyte of Hard Cheese

              An Intel Food Processor

And 4 bottles of the finest USB Port.

Install it in a medium sized Taco Shell case please.

But hey, look how many naïve people believe your masters are interested in creating cure for the sick, rather than selling them drugs (useless and harmless at best) for the rest of their life.
I'm not creating drugs? Actually I'd be the guy testing the effectiveness of said drug for that patient in some cases. Here's the thing HN, you never have anything good to say. Your only purpose is to put some controversial point across and get a reaction. If you believe I'll be a slave to the master, beleive it, not really fussed.

We can't be all parasites, peddling someone else's crap to people who don't need it and can't afford it. Someone has to work the real job and actually produce something. Although, this forum is not exactly about getting real jobs.

Almost caught you, Frank. You corrected your error just as I quoted you.

Although, "prior" experience is a tad redundant, if you ask me. He wouldn't be rejected due to a lack of future experience.

Wrong , again. He could have inadequate experience, non-related experience - among other types. I'll give you 'a tad,' as I'm in a very generous mood. That said, you were a tad wrong. :-)

Sorry - previous is redundant, whereas the other forms of experience you list are not redundant, they are qualifying (classifiers).

However - for a resume, you want "peripheral experience" since you can't talk about direct experience other than the classroom.

Seriously. You do realize I spent my first 2 years in school studying to become a politician? I probably would have been good at it. I was elected to the Chief Justice position on the college student government without even running for it.

Wrong again, Frank. He wouldn't have been rejected for a lack of...inadequate...non-related experience. You're grasping at straws that just aren't there. He would be rejected for a lack of experience and, since all experience is prior, prior is redundant.

Formal education isn't always a determiner in success - however, in today's world it's more necessary than it was in earlier days ( like yours). My grandfather had an 8th or 9th grade education and became a millionaire during the depression.

I disagree. Entrepreneurial success can still be attained by any idiot that can keep the drool cup, firmly attached. No formal education required.

It can still be done, yes. But I don't think that "just anyone" can do it. Sometimes education isn't the only factor to success. Other than online, the price of getting something going is becoming higher every other month. What I could have started 10 years ago is now about 20 times more expensive to do. Back then I didn't have the proper connections, now that I do, the price is prohibitive. I can solve that, but it's going to take a few years longer yet. The brick and mortar bureaucracy has become one hella expensive maze to run.
