  Actually, I tried to think of an answer to this one, but I've had so many life changing moments, I couldn't pick just one.

  Actually, I was in the crosswalk, crossing the street on a green light, (legally, on foot), but the Jeep entered the intersection, going about 35mph, and turned into the wrong side of the road.

lol, some great replies up there. I will answer seriously though, because I think it is an incredibly important question to ask.

Fifteen years ago, my first business was an online marketing agency. Web design, e-newsletters, etc. Prior to that, I had worked for a midwestern movie theatre chain for a dozen years, mostly in their in-house marketing department. This is where I picked up the skills to do these things.

It took me about a year to realize that, even though I had a few clients, I could not compete with the ever growing community of highly skilled web developers.

Everything changed the day I realized that I had something all those other designers didn't... an intimate knowledge of the movie-theatre business.

I fired all of my non-theatre clients and immediately refocused my business on reaching out to every movie theatre in the country. I was able to craft products and services that specifically appealed to them because I spoke their language and understood their problems intimately. Many responded positively and my company quickly became a household name in that industry.

A few years later I was able to sell the company for a bundle of money, though in retrospect that was a big mistake. That is a topic for another day...
