Tomorrow American Pharoah will be racing at the third oldest race track in the oldest stakes race in the U.S.
For the first time the track Saratoga Race Course presold tickets and sold out at a cap of 50,000. It should be an interesting race as Saratoga is known as the graveyard of favorites.
I didn't buy a ticket in advance so I'll be watching on TV, I just watch the morning workouts on the tube and Pharoah is looking good for tomorrows race.
The most interesting Travers race I've seen in person was my first.

I also got to see Alydar in the Whitney that year.

Really great video - you'll like it.

Looks like Secretariat is still the horse to beat!

Ugh I wonder how the horses feel being used in that selfish manner for gambling and entertainment.

So, you don't know anything about thoroughbreds, either? I'll add it to the list

Secretariat lost his one race at Saratoga in the Whitney Stakes. Of course it's possible the loose can be contributed to a viral infection he had
That's why tomorrows race should be interesting though, there's no guarantee Pharoah will win.

The video was real good though. From that you're right he still is the horse to beat.

I haven't seen plans for American Pharoah but I'm assuming this would be his last season? I'd be surprised if they race him as a three year old after the Triple Crown Win. Too risky, I'd think.

What a life - when he retires he'll have all the fresh grass and pretty girls any racehorse could want!

Don't owners usually sell "stud rights" to the stallions? If so, there's probably a stipulation about how long the horse can race...and I expect stud fees for this guy will be extremely high.

It will be interesting to see what his racing future holds. I think it will mostly be up to the horse if he races as a three year old or not. His stud rights were sold when he was still a colt. He already has an interesting history. He was suppose to be sold at the Saratoga yearling auction but because of a bump on his leg his owner bought him back for the min. yearling bid of 300,000. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Pharoah

            Damn what a race.
Before the race I picked Frosted, never expected Keen Ice to pull it off like that.
