(Title translation - Volkswagen has been very naughty)

Shares in Volswagen fell 20% after the car maker has been busted "fudging" its emissions data. It faces mega-fines in both the US and Europe, plus the recall of its cars, plus the damage to its reputation which will dwarf any financial hit it takes.

One has to ask if this is intentional or not. I don't know about OTHER areas(it varies by state and maybe even SMALLER groups), but California does a LOT of things trying to hook into the electronic system, and even plugging the exhaust pipe and changing the idle speed,etc.... FURTHER, some people have to do things to get MANY cars to pass. So I could see how this could play havoc with software, and affect the measurements. Mercedes, and apparently VW, HAVE been very good at making diesel engines that put out a lot of power for a long time with a relatively small amount of fuel.

IDEALLY, a car should just be put on one of those devices to register speed, and have a sensitive device checking exhaust. It would be near 100% accurate, and the car wouldn't know it was tested. Unfortunately, there are ways to trick it, so the government does things to frustrate that, and add OTHER ways to cheat.

Buy Volkswagen stock today & get an easy +20% profit within the next year after quarterly earning reports.

People are like goldfish, short memory when stocks go up ($$).

The average car buyer doesn't give a shit about emissions. Throw a sunroof & some cool rims on that car & it'll sell.

We're still s long way off VW's share price hitting bottom. There's absolutely no hurry to start buying just yet. Wait another year or so and have another look.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

I think all the hooplah is kind of funny, with all of the green weenies getting their panties in a wad. Breaking news: it's hard to have your cake and eat it too. What looks too good to be true probably isn't, except when you're having your emissions checked. VW's programmers went up a notch in my estimation
