UNREAL!!!!!!!!!!

OK, I went to a submarine sandwich shop, and they REFUSED to give me RAW onions on my sandwich! OK RAW onions are one of the most popular sandwich condiments ON THE PLANET! Take away ketchup, mustard, and pickles, and RAW ONIONS are perhaps THE NUMBER ONE CONDIMENT! They may even be MORE popular than pickles! They are used on ALL SORTS OF SANDWICHES and, HISTORICALLY, they have mostly been COLD!!!!!!!!!!

So WHAT reason did the MANAGER give for not giving me such a popular condiment? He matter of factly said that they were NOT considered edible, and so they use their bare hands in there to serve them, and thus COOK them!

TRANSLATION? "SIR.... We INTENTIONALLY CONTAMINATE them so you may get some disease, like salmonella, and DIE, so we depend on the HEAT in cooking them to reduce the chance of that!

SERIOUSLY! It is ******IMPOSSIBLE****** to get salmonella from plant products UNLESS they are handled by people that have gone to the restroom and not cleaned their hands or, in a similar way, have contaminated the product!

OK, OK, they just admitted to putting their customers at risk, and I felt like throwing up. WELL, several years ago ANOTHER company did the *****SAME****** thing! And HEY, only NINE people died! Unfortunately, they provided ANOTHER popular product, peanuts, and obviously had salmonella contaminated equipment. Some peanut products TO THIS DAY are no longer available because the old source provided contaminated products, and forced recalls.

They FINALLY got to trying one guy that was far removed! And HE got 28 years, IN JAIL!!

You can just as easily get sick from farm laborers harvesting the crop & not washing their hands after using the restroom.

    • Well, not quite! People KNOW that they aren't cleaning the vegetables, etc... THAT is why one of the first things you are supposed to do with carrots, onions, etc... before you slice them, etc... is WASH them! It is ALSO why they are supposed to be kept COLD!

  • Perhaps you should've gone to an aircraft carrier sandwich shop instead.

      Agreed.

It's like a typical rant on the letters page of the local newspaper back in the day before teh internetz............the kind that I used to write!

  • The UN should enact a ban on cooked onions

    • Yeah, you always have fun giggling until you end up sick or a loved one dies. THEN you might care. And colds are INSIDIOUS! NOBODY knows how deadly they really are. Some seemingly harmless ones may haunt you decades later as a heart attack, or some such.

  • Raw food doesn't hold well in submarines. That's why they have to cook it. Thought everyone knew that.

    Was the submarine yellow?

    • I guess that all depends on what else was in his sandwich... a little of Timothy O'Leary's fav substance and he might even think it was yellow AND underwater.

    • Yeah, INCREDIBLE! I WAS thinking about writing to the owners or something. Maybe I will call, etc.... It IS a franchise!

YELLOW subway? Well, I don't think things would get THAT obvious. It wasn't subway, if that is what you mean. Last I knew, subway DID offer raw onions. And I think they DO use gloves and utensils.

Hilarious. They quoted a 9 year old, because all 9 year olds have a sense of time or care about things other than video games & LEGO's.

I remember every bit of being 3 years old.

    • I probably remember a bit of every year of my life. And if you are three, you may remember things vividly for a while.
