Health Care Town Halls Turn Violent in Tampa and St. Louis - Political News - FOXNews.com

A town hall meeting to discuss President Obama's health care reform descended into shouting and violence in a Tampa, Fla., suburb Thursday as angry opponents clashed with event organizers.

    I love it...
A forum with Democratic Rep. John Dingell in Romulus, Mich., also got rowdy as foes and supporters of health care reform argued with each other and one man, with his son in a wheelchair, shouted at the congressman. A similar scene reportedly unfolded as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited a homeless clinic in Denver.
John dingell is the idiot that started all this mess! I hope he got a good personal taste of how people feel. And pelosi is certainly no saint either!

Looks like pros are getting involved and the threat of violence is going to be used to try to win or at least stifle the debate.

Yeah, like I said, Obama actually wrote a rather threatening request for people to turn others in. One even asked him WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH THE INFO!?!?!?!? GOOD QUESTION!

He did not threaten anything or anyone. They are trying to get rid of disinformation.

It is very clear that the right has a substantial misinformation campaign going and they are much better at it than the left. The people are caught in the middle and the admin is trying to suupress the b.s. thats being thrown around as the gospel to the average person.

But what I read wasn't threatening in any way unless you live in a house with the shades drawn and you're currently digging the exit tunnel in your bathroom for when the gov't agents show up.

WHAT government has ever done that? The hitler youth were KNOWN for that!

WHAT do they plan to do with the info?

So far, the ridiculous stuff I heard about is in the bill at the library of congress. The LIBERALS are the ones spreading the bad info. And they always bring up these sob stories. HEY, I KNOW people in those situations, have seen how they are treated, etc...

They could stop "misinformation" simply by:
            1. Showing EVERYONE the bill and intent of other changes.
            2. Listing out things in a cross reference.
            3. Showing where money comes from and goes to.
            4. Explaining illogical statements they made like "this will reduce the budget", or even why they are taking so long to do something that supposedly has already been done.
            5. an index would be nice.

You know, I might end up doing this myself, except 4 of course.

Frankly, the bill DOES talk about charges to employers, employees, surcharges, taxes, electronic funds transfer, etc.... It really is ridiculous. It DOES talk about not letting insurance take on new members(that is one of the very first points early on, in fact), It DOES talk about getting rid of insurance, limiting their prices, doing things to INCREASE costs, etc... I'm all for lowering costs, but artificial arbitrary devices are NOT the way! ALSO, HOW can they be expected to lower their price and raise their costs?

I guess if they want to get rid of "misinformation", their FIRST goal is to remove the garbage that now exists! THEN, when the right says what WAS the truth, it will be WRONG! HEY, I can live with THAT! LET'S DO IT! I would do it RIGHT NOW if I could.

I hear the unions are going to get involved and then we may see a few real donnybrooks between the pros brought in and the union people.

It's going to be a very hot end of summer.

Well, I like seeing my countrymen get fired up about something, it lets me know there are others that are paying attention. I would like to see them get so fired up that we clear out the bullsh*t in this country. Lobbyists, politicians on the take, politicians that dont pay attention to their constituents. This country needs a good 'uproar'.

    Oh I hope it does.

Its like this, the people in power are doing what they want to keep those NOT in power where they are. The haves against the have nots. The haves are not going to give up what they have acquired because you ask, not even if you ask loudly. It will have to be taken.

I think all TJ was saying is that each generation must come alive, get involved and protect the republic.

It's an easy method of refreshing the republic about every 20 years or so.

Are you saying it can't get done with good, sound legislation and implementation and/or enforcement of the new laws etc.???

Oh it can get done with sound legislation, implementation and/or enforcement of the laws.

now all you need to do is convince those in power that it would be a good idea to legislate the power out of their hands and you'll be good to go

I heard about something like a national march on Washington on Aug 22nd for opponents of health care.

Those that create legislation, and "enforce" it are the GOVERNMENT, and "in power"! You are contradicting yourself. AND, at a starting wage of about 100K, last I heard, and benefits like you would NOT believe, including FREE use of a jet, marketing, campaigning, and FREE HEALTH CARE, I would say they are pretty rich! Obamas new starting salary is $400K/year, last I heard. That is NOTHING compared to his REAL income. Just the airforce one jaunt that most people here could EASILY do in photoshop, cost $400,000!!!!! And that is just the direct cost to the government!

It's good to see the unions get involved against these idiots. Here's a quote from AFL-CIO Secretary Treasurer Richard Trumka:

Every American has the inalienable right to participate in our democratic process. Our politics is passionate, heartfelt and often loud -- as was the founding of our nation. But that is not what the corporate-funded mobs are engaging in when they show up to disrupt town halls held by members of Congress.
Major health care reform is closer than ever to passage and it is no secret that special interests want to weaken or block it. These mobs are not there to participate. As their own strategy memo states, they have been sent by their corporate and lobbyist bankrollers to disrupt, heckle and block meaningful debate. This is a desperation move, meant to slow the momentum for change.

Mob rule is not democracy. People have a democratic right to express themselves and our elected leaders have a right to hear from their constituents -- not organized thugs whose sole purpose is to shut down the conversation and attempt to scare our leaders into inaction

We call on the insurance companies, the lobbyists and the Republican leaders who are cheering them on to halt these 'Brooks Brothers Riot' tactics. Health care is a crucial issue and everyone - on all sides of the issue - deserves to be heard.

It's kind of sad to see the democratic spirit being damped by alterior agendas that are orchestrated by large companies to gain a footing with their own business interests. It makes everything so senseless and is a great disrespect for real people who do a passionate job of fighting for rights and gate keep democracy for the rest of us.
