I've heard about them but never had one before!

Today has been what many people refer to as a red letter day for me.

For the first time in months I felt able to spend more time out doors around the town. It has always been the little things that please me and finding a euro really set me up - especially since I could buy a drink that I desperately needed (42º and I had forgotten to bring water with me!). This was the first time in five weeks that I had been able to walk into a shop and buy something - imagine.

A little later I was passing the patio of a small bar/restaurant when a young girl started shrieking at her parent that she would not eat her meal because she had become a vegetarian. I was staggered when I was invited to sit with the family and eat the meal as a 'lesson' to the young girl. That was the first meal I had eaten in nearly four weeks!

I have no idea why this turned out to be such a great day and do not understand why the family invited me to join them. After all, I am one eyed, my hair hangs over my collar, I shuffle rather than walk and certainly look a little emaciated - not someone you would cross the street to meet.

Yes - I have heard of red letter days but never had one before.
