My version of windows 7 was cracked using the DAZ loader . Is it safe to upgrade to Windows 10 or will Microsoft detect the loader software? If so would they give me a chance to purchase Win 7? I don't want to format my drive, install legit Win7 and then load in all my software as very time consuming.

I heard that any version of 7 or 8, rouge or otherwise will be ok. They just want to lock people in to using 10 from now on. (tons of rip-off copies in asia and they dont seem to care about that) If you have the little window icon on the right hand side of your bottom bar then your probably ok to click on it to upgrade. If it cant do it for some reason then it will quit the process or tell you.

They actually later said it HAD to be a legit version! In fact, the copied upgrade DOES ask for a license.

But yeah, if it is invalid, they WILL stop it before changing your system.

Just tried the Windows 10 upgrade site and egg timer just goes around and around - no message. My Question is I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit which I can no longer find to buy on Amazon. If I buy windows 7 pro 32 bit will it repair my Windows on my PC making it legit or do you have to format the hard drive. Ideally I want a solution that avoids me having to re-install all my other software. Willing to pay for Windows 7.

If you buy/ get a full, legit copy of 7 (not just an upgrade one for Vista or something) then would suggest a format and clean install. Also no reason why you could not buy 8.1 and go from there, does not have to be 7 and would probably be more likely available. I had no problem with using 8.1 which I upgraded to 10 from.

I have observed last night by downloading win 10 onto usb that it says my processor does not support NX. Can't find nx in bios. it is an old Pentium 4 on a P4i AS Rock. Can you solve by flashing bios or will my windows 7 ultimate be almost as good as windows 10?

also most software being sold on amazon uk for windows seems to be described as refurbed yet they are oem versions so keys probably have been used. assuming I can make my mb nx compliant - can you downgrade ultimate by buying a normal version of windows 7? last thing I want to do is format the main hard drive.

Considering it's age you would probably be better off going to tigerdirect.com and buying a new or refurbished computer base or tower with win 7 or 8 already on it, you can get them for a little over 200 bucks.

NX is the No eXecute bit! The ONLY way to fix that is an INCREDIBLY expensive modification that probably NOBODY has ever attempted, or to get a NEW PROCESSOR! The problem is that your motherboard MIGHT not support it. YOU ARE IN LUCK though! Apparently intel started supporting it with some of the later Pentium 4s! I don't think the bios has any assisting logic here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NX_bit

Windows ultimate has some better emulation logic, than the other windows 7, IIRC, and some added utilities and features, but is STILL, at its core, just windows 7. And if you don't use the ultimate features, they won't help you in any way.

TRUE refurbished equipment will have things like software in like new condition.

BTW Windows v10 supports ALL levels of windows. So it supports ultimate as well as home. In fact, there ARE variants of windows 10! Higher level variants of the previous version, like Win 7 ultimate, get a higher level variant of windows 10. AGAIN, the BASE functionality/OS is identical! But support for things like groups, roaming, TRADITIONAL network support, terminal server support, etc.... may be different.

As for running an upgrade, it is likely an upgrade won't work. If it detects you are using a cracked version, it will likely say it is not upgradable. I think you may be up a creek. If you use the FULL version, it may wipe out your registry, forcing a full reinstall of most of your software. If you use the UPGRADE version, it will likely fail to upgrade. I tried the windows 10 copy, like what YOU likely tried, and it asked me for a KEY! There is a cottage industry now of companies offing packages to find your key. It is likely that MOST don't have the right disk, and some never got it. ALSO, it turns out that many OEMs MANGLED their keys, so THEY require special processing to find the original and proper key. Of course, ESPECIALLY WITH v10, you NEED to be registered with a unique and proper key. Don't forget, they ended up rushing this out the door.

Personally, I always prefer old windows because new windows 10 is quite heavy that my computer tends to lag... It has good features but I want better and fast performance than that

It seems that I only have a few days left and then hopefully the Windows 10 nag screen will be gone forever. Finally. I'm sticking with 7 as long as I can...

So far, I think the biggest problems I have with it now are that:

      1. The shell is STUPID! I guess Microsoft uses something else, or doesn't do much, and just does NOT care about customers, The last decent version here seems to be version 7.

      2. The emulation FAILS even a lot of times that it works! I have maybe a half dozen programs where I have to select like V7 or v8 emulation, or the program fails.

      3. Startups don't always seem to work fully.
