Banned Camp Growing in Numbers. Should I be afraid?

Is the first rule about banned camp to not talk about banned camp?

Looking at posts and starting to see a much larger number of banned members on this forum who don't appear to have done anything that I can tell.

    • Just wondering the same thing here in the offtopic. So far three warriors who participate in the annual nba thread I started have been banned. Kurt, Robert and I are scared. Lol Its a conspiracy against nba fans!

I've noticed the same trend, but have no clue what infractions they committed.

    • I have yet to figure the rules.

My contribution to the 'gettin' laid versus havin' an affair' trail got pulled pretty quick, prolly 4 bein' borderline porno, but no one said nuthin' formal.

Guess we all gotta exercise a little restraint.

Strap down our inner ragin' eunuchs with the liederhosen of respectability.

      That typea thing.

  • Hey, we're discussin' how not to get banned here.

    So what happens?

By thread #14 we are postin' photos of guys performin' crazy stunts with their pipes.

    It's a frickin' deathwish!!!!

  • It seems like the 'ol Web in general is more ban-happy than ever. Craigslist ads get flagged immediately by competitors, YouTube will ban for life on a single breach of obscure rules, rip-off artists on Amazon steal books verbatim and then try to get the original authors banned when they report it, Adsense accounts get banned without notice, on and on.

I read there is even a trend in relationships where one person gets "ghosted." Instead of breaking up, they just stop returning calls, cut off all communication, *poof* gone from the other person's life with no explanation.

    Like a ban IRL lol.

    • Jus' to say, David Beroff has reappeared over at the Cheat post (which i don't wanna feed).

He's still down as 'banned', but there he is.

C'mon over, Dave — we're tallkin' sheep farts, Klingons an' thumbin' thru Claude's Pornomonickon.

Will check the copy dump on my lappo later.

If I still have it, will send it over.

I figure it is the definitive description.

  • If Freelancer doesn't know or believe that to be true though, does it really matter? Would anyone really be surprised if they double down, convince themselves that their membership drive was successful and that these people will pay?

No, it doesn't matter any longer, at this point. They'll do what they wish and so will everyone else.

Allen had a measly $5 membership fee for a short while. It practically eliminated spam because the spammers wouldn't pay it.
  • How can we improve Warrior Forum to better meet your needs?

"Just give it back to Allen and cut your losses."

  • "Fear is for other people."

And... this is the Internet, almost 2016, not 1996.
"Banning" anyone on public websites hasn't actually worked in almost two decades.
  • So that's what's going on? I've posted posts that don't show - so I go back and redo them just to be told it's a duplicate post - then see the first post later.

WTF? We have herds of spammers (what is a group of spammers called - is it a puke of spammers or something?) and their posts get through, but people that have been here for years on years are being censored? Someone needs to stop drinking fluoride.

Got to agree with both Mike and Suzanne on the state of the WF. I only come here to see familiar faces now. They are getting fewer and fewer. It's not going to be too long before there's a very crucial exodus of all the long term, stable members and when that happens, FL is going to get to explain at least 7 figures of a crash to their stockholders.

    • There is some unbanning happening now. Someone who showed up banned last week is back in the saddle.

In the meantime, I managed to sign up to a different forum for some hosting advice, and managed to get an infraction on my second post. lol

What was amazing was that the moderator sent me a message of " welcome to the forum!" and along the lines of "you f'd up, but it was obvious you were trying to help but we have rules so I have to slap you even though you seem like a nice enough person" lol

I was supposed to have 5 posts before posting a link to something.

It was a really nice slap, which they didn't have to justify to me why they did it.

  • I actually reported someone today for affiliate links in their sig file. I was surprised to see that person banned within ten minutes of reporting it.

I guess they're banning now for sig file infractions rather than giving a warning?
  • If we can't get Claude banned, maybe we can trade him to DigitalPoint for a couple of Russian spammers to be named later?
    • [ 3 ] Thanks
  • (Insert witty joke about Claude here)

Good grief this site has gotten boring, even OT. Been a long while since I last posted. How you all doing?

I'm guessing that you presume you return is the antidote. :-)

FYI - using the words, 'witty' and 'Claude' in the same sentence is a non-starter.

      Welcome back!

      Cheers. - Frank
  • The best thing to do for yourself and for the WF is to leave a post trail that is concentrated relevance to your niches interest, post after post after post after post.... Solid advice and information. What they are looking for. By the time one of your prospects reads through all the disgruntled OT posts in the process of trying to find the gold nuggets you offer in their specific area of interest, they are turned off to the WF and arent sure how professional you are in the first place.

Thats my take. If I get banned I get banned.... I didnt have any business calling myself a marketer if I was totally dependent on this place.

On another note I find it interesting that some of the people who love to say "Look, he's just here to try and sell something..." are the same people saying the forum is useless to them now that they cant sell, and announcing to all the people who look up to their advice that is isnt worth giving in the main forums if you arent going to buy anything from them.

I say , if you really love the WF then go out into the main forums and subforums and contribute some more value .

Yes I learned some of this stuff the hard way.

    • Hey there John! Long time since I've seen you in the OT!
      A brief rebuttal:

None of my niches are on the WF (Thankfully!)
None of my prospects are on the WF (Thankfully!)
I trust no one here ever mistakes me for being "professional" (I hope!)
Most of the people on the WF are not looking for "solid information" (Truthfully)

Advice isn't worth giving in the main forums, not because one person isn't buying
from another, but rather because the current "readers" there just don't value it.

And it's full of trap-spammers: People asking the questions that they then answer under
different usernames (or they have their team members do it) in a vain attempt
to make it look like they're not marketing.

I don't think that most of us mind marketers trying to sell things on the WF at all!
But professionals are usually quite annoyed by the modis operandi of amateurs.

Save it for upstairs John. We're shallow and feckless down here in OT and not interested in all that biz talk.

  • Okay. I had a couple of glasses of wine last night and got a little opinionated... Should never have posted that way.... Trying to stay away from expressing opinions online... Last night was like "Im so glad I know not to post when Im buzzed .... OH wait I just did"! Sorry. Carry on.

Wow, we got to see bad boy John Durham! lol

Now go, and don't come back to the dungeon here till you've had some more wine.
    • K. Swiped.
    • Yep, that's my rule as well! I try to never log into the WF until I've had at least
two glasses, and preferably a couple more.

  • What were they banned for?

  • Banned
Trolls are as old as the Internet and have not changed one iota. To disavow that they exist or that the word troll has no meaning is ridiculous. They are so easy to spot. To imply that they're just ordinary folk with valid "opinions" debating just like the rest of us is also ridiculous. Simply not true and banning them into oblivion until they come back and return as a new troll is what moderators do. Call that censorship if you like. It's taking care of a forum, everyday stuff ... taking out the trash, much like cleaning up the spam. Or is that censorship too? lol.

    • Trolls exist no doubt so you read that wrong but you have to have your head in the sand to not see that for everyone claiming someone else is trolling mods seldom boot the person. It has no meaning in the same way that "fool" doesn't mean anything in particular. Its no longer a word denoting real lack of intelligence - its just an insult in too many cases to be limited to its fixed meaning

Its a name call in most cases. Plain and simp. ALso has nothing to do with cleaning up and taking out the trash....Mods seldom use the word - they just delete the posts. Almost all the time you hear people flinging it back and forth is a non mod a few even with the delusion that they should have mod powers.

    • Yes, you could say that, but he also, went on about how stupid the mods were, for not accepting his, full of error logo's.

He just kept saying how wonderful his work was, and how his friends thought so as well,.... but put it in the real world, and it fails.

I thought that his constant personal attacks on the mods, where trolllike, as well as individuals like me pointing out the obvious issues, but no reply.

If you said how wonderful his work was, then you would get a reply.

To this day about 7 months later, he probably hasn't got any of his stuff accepted in GR.

When is the WSO coming out?

      • [1] reply
  • Why?

If they rub me raw, they're a troll. That's all the definition I need.
  • It's weird... the forum management used to have faces, they were members, you kinda knew where they were coming from and what they were about.

Now, it's like.... hmm. it's like the Priest Kings (Gor reference). You know they're out there and you more or less know what the rules are, but you never see them.

But it's very impersonal now. No PM about it, no discussion, no real interaction at all. Just "PbsSzzztttzZZssZAPP!" as lightning strikes someone who was kinda across the line.

Whelp, guess he's gone. Move it along people, nothing to see here.
