I just checked out the headlines on the Channel 4 (UK) news site, when a video report about the influence of Goldman Sachs over the US government caught my eye. It's here: Snowblog - Paulson and Goldman Sachs: the plot thickens... (7m 14s)

I watched the film and read the accompanying text -- and I was intrigued. In fact I was so intrigued that I tracked down the Rolling Stone article that's mentioned in the report, which is here: Inside The Great American Bubble Machine : Rolling Stone

After reading this article (which I highly recommend spending 10 minutes with), I wasn't just intrigued... I was flabbergasted! The whole arrangement seems kind of.... corrupt.

So, are Americans worried about the influence of a private bank on the legislation that comes out of Washington?

Yes John, I particularly believe Hank Paulson is DIRTY. Now that he is out of the government administration (at least as far as we can see) AND supposedly out at Goldman, I would think he is less of a conflicting interest carpetbagger.

I think there is no one else who made more money on the backs of all the Americans who lost threir life savings/pension plans, etc. on the stock market/mutual funds crash than Paulson and Goldman Sachs.

Then I just learned that Goldman is tied to American Intl. Group (AIG) - the first ones to get the huge bailout and start the 'snowball in hell' effect in our economy.

I will go try to find the thread where I posted an article about this. I will come back later and watch your video after I catch up on some work.

I believe the entire system is corrupt and we should clear the entire place out and start from scratch

no more lifetime positions for anyone in an elected office

no more ridiculous pay and they must put it to a vote to get a raise

You didn't know we are actually registered in Dunn and Bradstreet as the United States of Goldman Sachs? Yes I am totally ticked off - and a lot of others I know are too, but the fun won't start just yet. I will be astonished if the Civil War doesn't start by next June. Who's side is the UK on? Might as well know that one right now, eh? LOL.

Yes, it is a big concern to a whole lot of people.

Our Republic (where the law reigned supreme) has degraded to a a corporate-fascist state where companies and banks are in bed with key politicians, and they control the most important pieces legislation and executive orders.

I'd say about half the people I talk to are aware of what's going on, and the other half live in the world presented to them by the mainstream media. You can spot them from a mile away.

There doesn't seem to be any way to weed these sons-of-bit@hes out of our two party system. So yes, the anger and frustration levels that Sal and Dave mentioned are starting to rise at the grass roots level.
