Hi All!

Ok, getting a logo done for my sister.

She has a very unique company.

She measures races for marathons and such, and makes them official.

If you could hit the poll on the page for which logo you think looks best that would help steer us in the right direction.

Thanks!

Forgot to mention, you can click on each image to enlarge it a little.

That first one - you have to ignore the shaded "R" and just go with the icon for the letter.

Jill, that is unique! I'm surprised there's enough demand to turn that into a business, but if so, that's great!

Just voted - I liked logo 4 the best.

I voted for logo 4 as well. If I had a second choice, I'd have opted for number 7.

That's my exercise done for the day.

lol, That was the initial tag line, but after she thought about it a bit, the "distance matters" had a nice double meaning to it, as in it matters what the distance is, and she deals with all kinds of matters about the distance.

Thank you all! Keep the feedback coming.

Feel free to let me know your thoughts on fonts and color schemes too.

My vote's also for #4, but:
    - Use the "inch counts" subhead.
    - Move it closer (up) and to the right.
    - Color the "z" to tie it to the person's arms. In fact, make it the only letter colored differently.

Kay, was it the cogs or the font?

Those cogs are representative of a Jones Counter - which is the main tool needed to measure long distance courses. It goes on a bike wheel. But she still has to go back and measure by hand to do calibration courses.

    • It is Friday the 13th an' I already done evil.

So, in the spirit of good, here are my thoughts.

I've chosen 4, but it is not quite the one.

2&3 are out, 'cos the strap sucks. Sounds like a diet program. The cog in 2 is especially 'nuthin' to do with the actual deal'-ish, even though it kinda also ain't.

1&7 don't work either. Whatever a zamok is, I don't want no-one deactivatin' mine. Nor do I wanna see a runner eatin' a burger.

The runner in 5 looks like a juggler, an' I have no idea what is goin' on in 6.

4 really stands out , but I like how the runner works with the words in 3 an' 7.

Get her bigger in 4 an' mebbe try the forward motion italics of 1.

Right now, small runner looks like she gonna slam into the words.

      Mebbe 'Go the full distance'.

Logo #3 If you change the bottom text to the same bottom text as logo #1 (distance matters).

Because every inch counts sounds like a 1977 Wooster Ohio porn title.

Someone else is doing this work. My sisters company does not make logos - she measures marathons and long distance races.

If you would like a race measured and certified for USA track and field, then you can hire her to go measure it for you. She does make out of the country visits.

A provider in the WSO or Warrior for hire services is doing the logo. I am happy to PM you the link to his offer.

While that thought of course did cross my mind as well, it's still a highly relevant tagline for this particular business, and I think it's very appropriate to use it.

She actually has a really long list of taglines - the majority come out like that "every inch counts" and are funny. At one time we were considering installing something where it just had a rotating tag line because there were like 25-30 of them - some much more suggestive.

But she's had time to think on it and her tongue in cheek needs to be curbed here for the companies she is working with.

Y'know, I didn't even notice the ruler markings on the Z until I zoomed in, just now. I was actually going to suggest ruler markings underneath the company name, just in a simple straight line, forming a track of sorts for the runner person, (at which point, you could remove them from the Z, since they're invisible there, anyway).

I think part was the cog - because it's a solid image you don't have to translate or relate to in your mind as you view the logo...but part was the uniform color, too. I expect the font played a part but I didn't consciously think of that.

I found when I looked at the images with split color, I wanted to pronounce the word differently.. Odd, but true.

*Expertise confined to two 5k races. Running them, not organizing them. Didn't pay attention to the logos either...crap.

Every inch counts, might be funny, but if this is going on billboards, or schools are you main source of income from this, then expect the inevitable, graffiti?

Jill - Another thing is the subtitle - I would use the "distance matters" rather than the "evry inch" - would use it for #2 if that's the choice also.
