Get ready, the Internet of Things is going to be everywhere.

PORT ST. LUCIE (WABC) -- A hit-and-run mystery was solved and a woman arrested in Florida after an unusual call to 911.

It wasn't the driver who picked up the phone, but instead it was the car that called for help.

That old sound is a bit of a turn on. I remember it well. Followed by "Welcome, you've got mail!"

This car thing is going to be a problem when you want to not deal with the insurance agency for a small ding hitting someone else and the police are called in anyway.

There will be higher demand for classic or older cars.

I can tell you, I don't like electric windows. I've always preferred the manual roll down.

She's lucky the car didn't post a video of the accident on Youtube. That feature is probably rolling out on the 2017 models.

I get the 911 (959s look better) joke but it was actually a Ford.

Apparently she had to connect her personal phone to the Ford 911 Assist option.

      No-Extra-Charge 911 Assist

Connect your compatible cell phone to this convenient no-extra-charge feature. 911 Assist® can call for help in the case of an accident, even if you can't. The 911 call goes directly through your properly connected cell phone without the need for intermediary assistance.

My friend has a car with the camera that shoots out the back for when you are backing up.

All that is needed is a bit of recording space, and a signal to "save video loop" when an accident triggers a 911 call. It would be fairly simple to program in. Save a few minutes before to a few minutes after the alarm. Pop a second camera on the front end and good to go.

Yep, rear view cameras are mandatory on all new cars in the US by 2018.

Really I'm surprised 4 cameras one on each side of a vehicle isn't mandatory for new cars. I mean If the car is involved in an accident & it's not the drivers fault it's an easy win for insurance or a related lawsuit.
