So getting ready to go to CA from Reno for Christmas. Snow storm and almost every car or rig on the road with no chains on was being turned away from the pass and now it's anything without chains on - and the length of highway that's closing off just keeps getting longer. I thought I'd just go 49 instead, and it might be clear because it's 1,200 feet of altitude lower at it's highest point. Same thing - the length of road the cars are being stopped and turned around is getting longer every hour.

So.........I figure I've got to party local this weekend and pick up CA next weekend.........so make plans with my pal who lives about 40 miles east of me. He called and asked if I was going........said trapped, so he asks me to come over tomorrow for Xmas there. Said - no snow there are all. An hour later..........calls back and says it's snowing. Here it is 2 hours later and I get to call him and tell him the hwy between us just got closed down, too.

Supposed to have a few more days of it........so New Years will my my Christmas with my family,

On the bright side --- from what I can see going on right now...........the northern CA drought is at its end. There's already enough snow pack up there for the whole winter and we've got 2.5 months of heavy winter and 1 month more of snow at altitude weather...at least.

Guess I'm spending Christmas at the local casino.

Sounds like Man Made Global Warming?

Casino,.....stay with RED, and if the staff are handing out free alcoholic egg-nogs, pass!

We have had 33 digrees today, glad my Mother put on the air-con, too broody hot to cook a roast, eventhough nice!

    The pudding wasn't bad either!

Well the highway east opened back up and I was able to spend Christmas evening with friends. We had a great time. Next weekend the storms should be passed and I'll spend the NY weekend with family in CA. So not a bad end for a pretty wild storm.

Manmade global warming in Reno right now is a fireplace and a space heater, LOL. It's freezing outside! We're getting the winter they had back east this year.
