I'm afraid I nearly dozed off twice.

I fear I'm becoming sanitized to all this SFX stuff. Sure, It was ok and if I was back in the seventies and seen this sort of calibre FX in the original I would have been blown away. Rather like seeing that first CGI dinosaur in Jurassic Park.

Anyway, apart from the nostalgia it was just going through the motions for me. Competent but uninspired. The magic of simply seeing it all for the first time was unique but I think many here who were around to watch the originals would harbour those same thoughts, it cannot be repeated.

I love any sort of Sci Fi but It needs a good story, told well. I want to be engaged and enthralled.

I have not seen it but that is my gut reaction I think I would feel if I saw it.

Loved back in 70s and 80s when I was a kid.

But its just boring as hell this stuff anymore.

This franchise is way past its glory days.

I hope they gut it after this.

Luke ,the force the force lol
Geesh Iam so sick of this damn Force it can go take a hike for all I care LOL

Yes, unfortunately l thought the same, (saw it a few days ago).

The start was good, brought back memories, but would l see it 7 times like Star Wars, no way!

As you have said, l have seen too much of this stuff, Just watched Night at The Museum, part three, and eventhough the kid seeing his paroah parents could have been shortened, overall pretty good.

I suppose that it all comes down to good story, and pushing the limits?

Night at....pushed the limits, with the Escher poster, tablet scene, (very clever) and here and there!

But Star Wars, 2015, seemed to hold back with the planet sun thing, (trying not to spoil it). The first death star, flew above it and in the trench.

The second one, inside, which was cool.

And recently, above it, (boring) in a small trench, (also boring).

If they flew inside the planet, and destroyed one of the regulators to the artificial black hole, etc, then it would start to pick up?

Seems that Disney is holding back, maybe riding the franchises coat tails to recover some of its initial outlay?

I really hope that they don't make this a habit, as they have an unique franchise, that could run out of steam if they are not careful.

But some scenes with the coming out of lightspeed was pretty cool so it had its moments, but not enough, unfortunately!

Well, back in the 70, the only thing that was similar was 2001, (1966) that just wet our whistles for Star Wars.

As for the modern day Darth, groan, let's hope that someone does him, in, reminds me of Ja Ja, shudder!

I'm flattered and sickened at the same time.

Folks! Claude once said to me.. He said: " Son, when I die you will get all this" It was highly fortuitous that at that moment, the zipper in his pants chose to get stuck!

I am a fan of Star Wars. I sorta grew up with it. But I don't see the point making a whole new series with almost the same storyboard as the first 6 movies. 30 years later, they're still having problems with their government and politics, plus family drama. Oh well, seems like Earth isn't the only planet experiencing those.
