Bet you didn't know Fred Astaire was a drummer, too

Never seen that clip before. Thanks.

Interesting concept, tap drumming, which he obviously invented. His later audition to be a founding member of Rush however did not go as well as he hoped.

I didn't know that but being a drummer myself the past 45 years it does not surprise me.

An accomplished drummer and an accomplished tap dancer like him utilize the same variables... Timing and Rhythm. The only thing that may be a little different is the actual hand speed and coordination for a drummer.

But the deep ingrained "Neuro" aspect of it are very similar between the two

Not just a drummer, but one with excellent timing.

It's not easy to shift from his footwork to his hands and back
again to his feet, like that.

    The skillsets are very different.

His body is also in motion (and must be accounted for) as he moves
    around those kick drums.

I know he probably rehearsed the routine hundreds of times but...

he makes it all look so effortless.

Real "poetry in motion", from a Master Entertainer.
