So he wasn't back, he was back, he wasn't back...he is back.

I can't be the only one sick of this yearly carousel from Farve am I? He needs to shut up make and announce his decision when he is ready.

Dude hasn't been great in years anyways.

  • Back where?
    I agree, retire already.

    • Pending a physical he will be signing a two year deal with Minnesota. I thought it was just like a week ago he said he wouldn't be going there.

He gets 11-12 million this year - overpaid IMO
  • I'm also sick of Farve. The guy has turned into the biggest diva in the NFL.

    • LOL! He sounds like a drama queen. All you have to do is change some of the details and he sounds more like a teenage girl than an adult man.

Instead of, "can't decide whether to retire" just replace it with, "can't decide what to wear to the big dance tonight" or "can't decide if I should keep seeing Jimmy."

  • I like Bret Favre - He's still great. Anyone that can take losers like the jets to where they were last year is still a pretty good quarter-back. By the way he tied Joe Namath's franchise touchdown record in a game against the SuperBowl bound Arizona Cardinals last year. So to say he hasn't been great in years is simply not true.

However, he appears to have no loyalty. I don't see how he can build any kind of fan base. Not to mention the fact that he's shooting down his hard-core fans from Green-Bay. Fans that would have paid him royalties for years in Bret Favre merchandise. Personally I think that Green-bay made a huge mistake by not letting him come back. They're also losing out on royalties.

This is very smart though for Minnesota. The Green-bay - Minnesota rivalry has always been big, but now this is going to pack the house on those games.

    • In the last 5 games of the season (they lost 4 of them) Favre through 8 interceptions and only 2 touchdowns.
He starts the season strong now, but is getting to old to keep up the pace.
  • Brent's still better than more than half the starting QBs out there now.

His goal all along was to miss the grueling days of training camp.

  • Frankly, to be honest (as a football fan and all around kind human being, not a Bears fan), I hope he fails the physical. I've heard his throwing arm isn't in great shape, and if he gets injured, he could be done for to the point that no team would let him play pro ball even if he paid them to let him.
  • His first three games last season were horrible too. He starts slow not knowing the system - then plays good - great and then crashes and burns.

To me he is not a great QB anymore and outside of 07 hasn't been in quite awhile IMO. A bad 08 - his collapse the last 5 games cost the Jets a playoff spot. His 05 and 06 years were HORRIBLE.

Is he better than more than half the current Qbs...hmmm probably..but just - off the top of my head I would personally rank these guys ahead of him as of today:

    Brady
    Manning
    Brees
    Rivers
    Warner
    Cutler
    Rodgers
    Romo
    Ryan
    Manning 2
    McNabb
    Big Ben

    • You can scratch...

      Brees

      Rodgers

      Cutler

      and Ryan off my list.

But I love the way Ryan seems to be able to throw with accuracy and authority while backpedaling.

  • Bret just needs the right hook ups - he throws more interceptions than anyone, but that's because he makes way more pass attempts than anyone else. If they hook him up w/ receivers like he had during his super-bowl years then he wouldn't have to wear himself out and he'd probably be right back on top again. Plus he energizes every team that he goes to. The Jets were practically zombies before he got there.

I mean he is getting old, but I for one would love to see him get with the right players again. I think he's just looking for a John Elway type of departure, and I'd be willing to bet that if he gets the right players he'll be able to do it. I'm rooting for the old man!
  • Hi,

I think its going to work as he is going to a good team with a great running back which will make his job (even at 40) easier....

    Take care

  • Just a few thoughts on Brett Favre:

I'm so undecided about his return that I feel like--wait for it--Brett Favre.

While Brett was tossing around the idea of unretiring, he was intercepted 14 times.

If Brett Favre takes as long to decide to throw a shovel pass as he did to unretire, he's going to get sacked for sure.

But, on the other hand, Tony Romo has a higher percentage of interceptions, as does Joe Namath, and George Blanda, so he's not truly the king of interceptions.

And, if he doesn't get some better rapport with his receivers than he showed last night, it's going to be a LOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGG season.

    Make it a great day!

    • What? He had a reception for 4 yards:rolleyes:
Earlier in this thread is a list of QB's currently playing that are better then Favre.
Through most of his career he would of been at or near the top of that list.
Now he's like the car with 400,000 miles on it. It will still run but it breaks down alot and isn't as fast as it used to be.
  • His play isn't my complaint...It's how he dominates the sports media. I'd like to hear about all the other players once in a while...

    • It should make for an interesting season this year, like the Randy Moss days.

Say what you will about either player, but they're not boring
  • I spelt it wrong - it is actually Brett Favre - football player - NFL QB

    • I was wondering when you would notice that

  • Does anyone know really know why he waited till the last moment to come back?

Was it the money? Or the records?

    • I like watching any team with a controversial player...it makes it more interesting. So even though I'm Cowboy's fan I definitely watch other teams that have some good talent. As long as I can catch other teams locally I watch the talent on the field, if Brett does poorly then I will be disappointed, but mainly because I like underdogs.
    • IMO, he likely wanted to skip training camp, where he'd be in a dorm sharing a room, doing 2-a-days.

I also think he's more of an attention whore and he just loves football, than it was for money or records, but it's probably a little of all of the above.
  • Favre needs to make up his Mississippi mind... and then stick with it.
