In the late 60s, there was a crazy singer in Fort Worth, TX called the Stardust Cowboy. His odd style was too out there to make him a star, but some found him endearing. That group included some vacuum cleaner salesmen who turned out to be pivotal to Stardust getting a record deal with the same label Bowie was on at the time -- Mercury Records.

Bowie heard his singles and said he was "so bad he couldn't stop listening." He was so captivated by Stardust, he used part of his name in a character he was working on for an album.

He modified his friend Iggy Pop's name to Ziggy, added Stardust and a record was born.

True, l have noticed a bulldog sign up the road from Claude's shop. Guaranteed to give her some ideas?

Might spark off some idea for song lyrics....

I kissed a bulldog and l liked it,
his name was Spike, and he dug it.

Spike me, spike me, spike me!

Spike kissed a rat, which was better, than the cat.
Although that cat was fat, after eating the rat.

      Like that!

Spike me, spike me, spike me!

Sounds like a million dollar song to me?
