Long-Time Loner Looking for Friends

I've been working online for about seven years, and I've always been a loner. In the past I've wanted to stay to myself, but that, I feel, is holding me back. I'm ready to make some friends and work on some big launches!

Sorry if this is a 'joint venture' sort of post. I posted there too.

    Hey man,
Nothing wrong with being a loner. I count myself in that group to a degree. Which is strange considering I am married with two wonderful kids.

But my heart has always been somewhat of a person who dances to his own drummer.

Just have to shift your Mindset a little. Keep putting yourself out there like you are with this Post. The more you do it the easier it will become and the more Contacts you will make

I guess that until you experience the alternative, you'll never fully appreciate how good you have it.

Matt, good luck. While I can't guarantee you'll find a friend down here, I can say, with near certainty, that you can find a nemesis lurking in the shallow waters of the OT.

              l second that!

Yes, been at it for 7.5, and l have made a few friends down here.

Still learning about launches, turn a selling digital product and turn it into a DVD, Real book product then up the price, and sell that.

If the price point is high enough, it might even get over Adwords sky high prices?

That's his book on "How to find friends when you are a long-time loner."

Looks like OP has decided none of us can be his friend. He vanished. lol

Can't make friends - or even frienemys for that matter if you don't post.

Tell us something about how your day went. It can be totally non business related and boring as heck.

I'll tell you what I'm doing right now.

I'm sitting in the tire kingdom getting new balls (joints on my car) and guy talked me into new rotors with the new breaks I needed.

I wasn't going to get the breaks done on the first estimate he threw me. I got on my laptop, found another car parts place, and tossed the cheaper number back at him. He dropped my price another $100 and all was well in Jill Land.

Now I'm just hungry as I've not eaten all day but probably have another hour to wander around here waiting for the car.

I think the mc D's is walking distance. Might need me a cheeseburger.

I woke up sick this morning so my wife had to exercise her solo parenting skills. I'm medicated and ready to get my day started now that it's nearly over.

Now I'm taking my grandfather-in-law some supper.

Well I hope you feel better soon!

              Any good meds?

What does gramps get for din din?

I stopped off at the local taco stand on the way home and had tacos off the "el cheapo" menu. Took them to go and pinched a margherita in while I waited. Rocks and salt. Gotta have the salt.

Tacos were $2 a piece, and the drink was $3. A good deal after dropping a ton of cash at the car fix it place.

Still need to get a new timing belt kit and they want to fix some spring thingy on the back which is over $500 more. But I couldn't bring myself to spend any more today and I waited there over 3 hours as it was.

And crud, just realized there is no creamer for the coffee in the morning. Dang it!

Sorry your vehicle needs so much work. Maybe you should trade it.

The meds weren't too awesome. They've definitely worn off now.

Gravy too? Gotta have some gravy.

The car is just maintenance from age issues (98). It's just broken in with 50k miles. Living on the coast there is a lot of salt water and weather issues that like to eat away at any rubber parts.

I just drove it down the coast from Nantucket to Florida. Went in for oil change and walked out with 1,600 in estimates.

I had this conversation about leasing or trade it etc.

The car is paid for in full right now and I don't want to be stuck with a new payment plan on something. Car is running fine. It just needs some face lifting.

Things like timing belt are normal to get replaced before they go bad. I hadn't realized what shape some other things were in before leaving or they would have been addresses before leaving. Car went in for a check over before I left and now it has me questioning the original place. Tires shouldn't suddenly show excessive dry rot just for driving 2k miles and 2 months.

That's maybe the only drawback of working as a freelancer. All your friends become virtual after some time. I also was some kind of loner, but it turned out I haven't already met the people I feel comfortable with.
I wish you with all my heart to find those who motivates you and makes you feel happier, because it's exptremelly important. Such friend will make you better.

Hi Matt! At some point, I guess most of us have experienced being a loner. It's the perfect chance to spend quality time with ourselves. When we are preoccupied with a lot of things life, we tend to forget ourselves and focus more on how to be competitive and successful.

    Welcome back, Matt.

Just jump in and start responding to threads down here. Just ignore comments from nearly everyone who has posted in this thread, other than Frank Donovan and PerryNY (they both have retained some of their sanity) and you'll be just fine.

Oh, and it should go without say that, if Claude offers you a Slim Jim, don't eat it. Don't look at it. Don't accept it.
