... I'm back - with new eyes.

Around Christmas last year my vision was becoming very cloudy and had no vision at all over a distance. I also had difficulty seeing anything on a white background such as webpages, books, newspapers, etc. Even my spectacles didn't help.

Early in the New Year I got checked out and was told I had cataracts in both eyes. So, I decided on a Sabbatical until my eyes got fixed. I had surgery to get them fixed and have just been back to the eye doctor today for a final check up.

I'm all good now and can see things better than I can remember. Also I'm allowed to drive again, much to the delight of my Dad and brother who've had to provide chauffeur duties for me for a few weeks.

I see that a couple of regulars have been banned in my absence, but we still seem to have a quorum so I guess life goes on as it ever did.

Anyway, what's been happening in my absence? Is Claude still as "popular" as he ever was? Is Shane still "proving" that the world's scientific community are wrong? Is Terra still keeping the lads on their toes? Is the Princess still bewitching, bewildering and bamboozling everyone?
  • Glad to have you back.

All that's needed now is for visual wizards like Taggo an' Pozzo to festoon this thread with hi-rez Whitacre images, an' your eyeball resurrection will be complete.

Hey, Whatever! Glad you're back - I was hoping you hadn't left for good.

Sorry to hear about the cataracts, but very glad that you had surgery and your vision is good again!

As for your last paragraph... sigh...you didn't ask about me. I'm so crushed...devastated really...crying in my beer.... Oh, wait...I don't drink beer! But I'm pouting...

    (Not really)

Anyway, while you've been gone the biggest news is that Claude's officially become the human pet of a cute cat named Mac.

And I've no idea why the ban hammer fell yesterday on one of our most likable members here, but hopefully she'll be back from her "vacation" very soon!

    Again, welcome back!

Was wondering where you were. Glad it was just cataracts and they're all fixed now. My brother had that operation last year also.

Yeah, it's a fairly routine operation. Takes about 15-20 minutes per eye. They don't even bother putting you out to do it, just a local anesthetic. You're awake all the way through it. For a day or two afterwards your eyes are a bit sore but that soon passes. After that, it's like seeing a whole new world.

        Welcome back, Whateva!

You were definitely missed. Especially by me. It was getting a little dull around here without your humor and witticism.

            (Kidding! I only drink about a six-pack a year.)

I was thinking about you, but then I had to take a dump.

Glad to see you back and glad that you can see that you are back.

The biggest news is that Claude got a cat, yes it's that exciting here.

Very glad that you're back. And good to hear about the successful operation.

Riffle also took a few days off for an operation. Call him Caitlin now.

At 53 years old it's a L-O-N-G time since anyone described me as a "bit young".

You are young compared to somea the turtles out there in Ozonesia.

They been hobblin' around all leathery for over 150 years.

As they sit, pullin' barnacles offa their shells an' doin' that weird reptilian gsssss gssssss gasp, I figure they are gazin' over at the bronzed hooman swannin' by in his super flappo I Heart Melbourne surf pants, an' wondrin' why God fixed 'em up with such a bum deal.

If they got the internet, an' they heard about Terra's spasmin' buttocks, the concept of bein' lumbered with a truly bum bum deal gonna reduce those armored sloths to tears.

Only way we gonna stop those guys throwin' themselves offa the edge of the beach like clunky lemmings is to hang around till Claude shows up.

Now he is packin' a Cat-Fu-Doom combo, I figure he got the power to be an inspiration to all seriously pissed venerable reptiles.
