Lexi isn't sure if she likes our new Winter Wonderland

This is the front yard, same as in my storm thread....

This is Lexi just halted to think about this...

She takes a couple of steps, flips her ears over her head and stops again, lol!

I don't think she knows what quite to do, haha! This year has been one of very little snowfall, and certainly nowhere near the amount of the present.

I don't blame her. When we had the East Coast blizzard, the dogs here did NOT like it one single bit.

She's going to have to warm up to it sooner or later, she'll have to go make some yellow snow soon.

Ha! She couldn't hold it any longer and whined to go out. But because she waited, she had two problems.

First, the snow was now up to chest/belly and so when she squatted, she was half buried in the snow and secondly, she held it so long, she had to go a lot and it took forever. She's shivering now, lol!

        I mean poor baby.

Can't believe how big Lexi is!

Great photos, Terra! Fresh snow is always so beautiful, although I don't envy you for having to deal with it.

Lexi would love being in Oregon right now - 65 and sunny here today! (Not typical for February!)

Thanks, Cheryl. They're the only thing great about the storm though, lol!

Exactly! We must be soul mates, kindred spirits, and whatever other people call it, too.

I find spraying on the innuendo disinfectant quite effective at getting rid of germy thought processes and opens the page of "understanding clever" tucked away in the brain. It's a small page but potent as heck!! Better than an artist rendering a likeness with oils and charcoal, I always say.

So sorry, Terra - didn't mean to exclude you!

We're back to normal February weather today - low 50s and rain...(any sign of the sun this time of the year is a real treat here!)

I hope you don't get another snow storm.

Gracie would have her coat on in that weather - she LOVES her coat and thanks to velcro it goes on and off in seconds.

When the snow was deep last year we created one path in the snow of the back yard and the dogs stayed on that path when they had to go out - it meant they didn't get their bellies and butts down in the cold, wet snow. My son just drove one round with the snow plow but you could do it (or someone do it for you) with a snow shovel pretty quickly. We only had to do it once and the dogs using that area kept it "low snow" for the rest of the winter.

Gracie has to have a coat when it's less than 32 out - she's short hair and doesn't get a thick winter coat.

Lexi hates her coat. She ends up running around in circles trying to pull it off. It is quite comical to watch. Sort of like a cat chasing its tail.

And that only happened the first day. When hubby got home from work he plowed and he shoveled. Lexi no longer has to leap like a deer and bury her belly to potty.

That's funny about the coat. Gracie never saw a coat until we moved North a bit over a year ago. When I first put it on her she seemed so proud to wear it...now on cold days she stands by her "coat hook" in the mud room until I put it on her.

Our other dog will not tolerate a coat - she's on Lexi's side.

                          "American Eskimo."

If you have ever been around hand raised wolves, you will completely understand how undomesticated "dogs" really are. I have.

I once met a man who had two rottweilers, strangers could walk up to them and grab their tongues or pick at their teeth and they seemed to like it. Some people think that Rottweilers are "killer dogs." In reality, wolves and the dogs who were bred from them, are almost entirely products of their environment.

I don't want you to misunderstand, Lexi loves to play in the snow. We make her snowballs, hard packed and she'll pick them up with her mouth, throw them up in the air by swinging her head up quickly and releasing the snow ball. She'll then chase it and start the process all over again.

She amazes me that if she has no one to play chase the ball with, she'll play by herself. Not having an interested party around isn't going to spoil her fun! She's a lot like me as a child, haha!

It's just the super deep snow that is higher or as high as her belly that she doesn't like so much. I can't blame her, I wouldn't like that either.

And the snow is falling again.

They're predicting another 9 inches and I gotta tell ya, I'm not happy about it! We've hardly had any snow this winter and the temps have been pretty mild. They say it's because of el nina' or something like that.

But we're getting a lot of snow, towards the end of winter, when Spring is supposed to be right around the corner. They're saying more snow Thursday and then more on Saturday. I think I would have preferred to have it all spread out evenly.

Yes, nice pics, Terra, and l won't state the obvious, but we have plenty of hot weather down here!

Seems like a world away, l get up in the morning with warm to hot.

And usually long for the coolness of the shopping centre, (previous pics,) but only the new one, smaller ones, tend to turn their air con,s off at 5.00 pm.

But l do remember almost 20 years ago when l went on a family camping trip, and we spent hours climbing a snowy hill, to finally find some to mess around with!

Fun stuff, but living in AU, with a moderate climate, it would be pretty hard to live in the stuff!

Might have to get Lexi, a small cask of rum, to put under her neck,....just in case!

Once she knows that if you put her on something slippery, and that snow can be fun, she will probably be whining at the door!

      Me too!

I'd love for my face to be licked by falling snowflakes too because I think of snowflakes as a basket of small white delicate flowers being spilled from the heavenlies and I love not only the feel of the soft supple pedals caressing my cheeks, nose and forehead, but the aroma they emit would put me and my sniffer right up there in the heavenlies as well.

      Mmmm, what a wonderful feeling!
