As a matter of fact this will be quite feasible sooner or later.

I don't like when I don't control the situation. But in fact it's much more safe, because people make mistakes more frequently than computers.
    So maybe it's our future.

True, that they will be safer, but if l drove like a little old lady with poor eyesight, l would drive safer as well!

And most likely p*** off other drivers around me, and getting smashed in by drivers getting p*** off by snail drivers!

They haven't tested this in the real world, just tested it on mountain roads, with pristine computers and cars!

In the real world with aging computers and sensors, and dirt and mud, etc. the numbers won't look so good!

Useless fact: Did you know UPS plans their delivery routes to make mostly right hand turns?

Did you hear about that recent google car test? The CAR was deemed to be "partially at fault". Although the bus SHOULD have allowed the car to come in, I would say the car was fully at fault because IT is the one that deviated its course and, had it not done so, the bus would have been deemed blameless, etc....

Anyway, google programmed another stupid half hearted rule into the automaton code. The moral? Do NOT play chicken, or even be discourteous, to a google car that could cause damage, UNLESS YOU ARE DRIVING A BIG VEHICLE!

BTW they are getting a pass because the passenger, that likely has NO valid reason to make the assertion, says he would have made the same assessment. HOW could you know unless you had a normal vantage point of EVERYTHING, and were paying 100% attention to the road? Besides, he is biased!

Did you hear about the one where Google self driving cars have driven over 1 million miles without causing any accidents?

I don't know any people that have driven a million miles and never caused an accident.

Yes, a brand new car, with pristine sensors and computers, driving like an L Plater, should rack up some impressive stats, and not so impressive ones!

I hate to break it to you, but that happens EVERY DAY! But do they have a car that has driven over 1 million miles with no accident? I DOUBT it! And such cars can drive ON THEIR RULES! Humans have a lot of other things to contend with.

How long after the first self-driven cars hit the market before we read a story about a hacker taking it over and driving the car into a building or something similar?

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

That's already been done without self driving cars.
