I think my 3 week cold has gotten the best of me and I just cannot think clearly.

Which of these are correct?

If I was the teacher, I would...
If I were the teacher, I would...

My answer was rejected so I thought I would check here for more input.

Thanks.

A little while back someone suggested a forum feature allowing an anonymous account that was known to the moderators to ask certain questions. Someone else asked the OP why in the world anyone would want to hide behind their question.

This thread is a good example.

English kicks my butt too often.

What's even more embarrassing is now I have to go back and tell my family member who/that (see what I mean??!!@@##**) is not a native English speaker that I was wrong and their non-native English speaking professor is right.

Thanks for the help. I looked this up before posting and swore that I found where the answer is "was."

Mark, as always, Frank is correct. To explain the issue further, Grammar Girl provides an excellent tutorial:

If I'm being completely honest, it was an incorrect "auto-correct" on my phone that I didn't catch initially. Once I saw it, I figured it was apropos and left it, so your partially right.

Huh? I only see one post.

I did change the color of the small line several times to find the appropriate one. I'm color blind, so it can take me a while to figure out which is the right one. Maybe that caused some glitch?

Sorry; I should have been more specific. I'm getting over a hundred email notifications. I seriously doubt that it's you. I just posted the problem to the Suggestion box, so I'm sure they'll look into this in a few weeks, and maybe we'll get a fix in a few months.

Unlikely, but thanks for letting me know. For the future, there isn't an exact match, but the lower right swatch is white, which is the closest we have without actually editing the BB code directly.

It never even occurred to me that white would be the closest.

Yeah. Someone had recently posted how to get an exact color match, by editing the BB code, but I have neither the knowledge nor the motivation to pursue that. Barring that, yes, white seems to be the best match for their gray background.
