Nobody tells me what to do! I see a vision and I go after it. As soon as you or I set the goals the challenges come like clockwork. I've learned its part of life like the south pole and the northpole. Up and down. Left and right.

Its what you do with what you have that counts...

Once I got that my income went from 25,000 per years to over 80 and this year 2016 I'm going to blow that right out of the water!

I literally just today made the decision and walked way from a 100k income offer - and I would have easily, in time, made more had I went forward. Why did I choose to say no thanks? Because my heart just isn't excited at all.

When I told my wife of my decision, she lit up with a smile so big, it actually shocked me. I had my confirmation... though I was fine in the decision.

It isn't always about the money.

Me either - but coming up with a silly response was fun.

I'm going to guess English is not OP's native language (but have been wrong in the past).

Doug, it's quite ok to turn down more money. You are wise to know what you want in life.

People sometimes get so caught up in money and what money can buy.

But working for that money can take away a lot too - so I agree your heart has to be in what your doing or you may as well enjoy your miserable life.

You look like you may be within my age group. 29 that is.

Getting to that mid life crisis range did make me take pause and take inventory of where I was, where I thought I was going, and where I really wanted to go.

I like working - but I want to be doing work that makes me happy. I also want to keep that balanced out nicely with a lot of just "me" time.

It's about finding that balance of the best of both worlds.

Giant stack of money on the table does nothing in the end if you had to blow off everyone you know just to get it.

          Jill,

I couldn't envision starting out yet again at basically the bottom, even at the salary offered, not at 29

When we didn't have money, life was certainly stressful enough, and I've experienced a different type of stress managing that 'stack of money' as well.

You are right, finding the balance comes with contentment.

For instance, at the moment my wife is sitting across from me putting together a gift. I'm just sitting here watching, chatting and eating ice cream. Bills are paid. Feet up. Money in the bank. Healthy.

Why do I want, or need, the 'rat race?'

Crazy however, is that I labored over the decision to say "no thank you" all week, but I quieted myself and heard the still small voice.

          That matters so much more.
