... and it's not looking good.

Sounds like those who prefer the escapism of 90 minutes of non-stop action with no coherent plot will love it. Those of us who like to be taken on a journey though should avoid it like they would leprosy.

    • You do realize that DC comics is not the director, writer, or producer....don't you?

38% from critics? 84% from movie goers?

I'll see it. I've read several reviews. Most of them said that if you like Man of Steel and Watchman, you'd like this movie.

It's a much more somber movie that The Avengers, or most of the Marvel movies.

Several reviewers said something about it being visually awe inspiring, but not that much fun. The same response that Man Of Steel got.

  • I used to depend a lot on reviews, but not anymore. It really makes us overthink everything.

In the end, most movies are at least *mildly entertaining* no matter how awful they are (most, not all).

So, if this bad movie helps me spend 2 hours mildly entertained (with the fight scenes, eye candy, or whatever) i'm in. Fuk it.

  • Gotta tellya, I do not have a lotta interest in this movie.

Partly, it is cos I do not feel for either character, but also, these concatenatory movies so often disappoint.

Iron Man vs School of Rock etc — always a bad idea imho.

Difficult to say right now whether the reviews are a genuine reflection of the movie or jus' a weird backlash.

Prolly the weird backlash was onea Batman's better moves.

Who is playin' him this time around? Ellen DeGeneres?

  • I think It should be good. I am waiting for this movie
  • I don;t know how you write a crappy script when you know it has such high expectations and conceptually has been debated (B Vs S) for many years.

Its like Star Wars. they knew if they messed that up it was career suicide so they put in the extra work to make sure it was solid.
  • Anyways, neither Captain America, Captain Britain, Captain Australia* can compete with Captain Wooster.

    * Yes, Marvel did introduce a Captain Australia. There's also a Captain Canada, Captain Russia, Captain Germany and more. Still, all of them are made redundant in the wake of Captain Wooster.

    Saw it tonight in Imax.

In my opinion it was masterfully crafted with an All Star Cast. From beginning to end there were 0 boring moments. It gave a great look into the souls/background of both Superman and Batman.
When I first heard that Ben Affleck would be Bruce Wayne I honestly cringed remembering him as Daredevil. He really stepped up his acting and delivered in his role as Batman.

Do not listen to the opinions of neckbeard biased critics and miss out seeing this Movie in Imax. Everyone loved it and even clapped at the end.

Stayed after the credits no extra scene

    I give it a 10/10.

Don't let critics tell you What's good or bad, be the judge yourself.

  • It's more than that. The ideologies are well known to each other. They are fighting for reasons that are very well shown in the movie. The end of the fight makes sense, if you know the mythology.

The problem is, most movie reviewers aren't comic book fans.

Imagine hearing about a sport for the first time. Now, there is a sporting event where you don't know any of the players, know none of the rules, and have no interest in the sport.

But you are forced to watch a 21/2 hour game...because it's your job.
It's the same with a movie critic having to slog through a 21/2 hour DC Superhero movie directed by Zack Snyder.

Nobody is going to enjoy this movie, unless your a DC superhero fan.

The Marvel Avenger movies are fun for the whole family, and can be enjoyed by a general audience. They are more fun.

This movie treats these characters as though they are real. There is never a wink at the audience. There are no jokes. (Although Alfred, Bruce Wayne's butler would be the obvious choice to give them).

There is one edit that can be confusing (it's in the batcave).

I suppose I would give it a 9 out of ten.

    • Sadly (or happily - take your pick), my Batman fanboidom began and ended with Adam West, and I've never been a fan of Superfellow.

To each their own though. All part of life's rich tapestry.

  • Having thought about it some more, perhaps you're right Claude. Perhaps superheroes in capes is an American thing.

America doesn't have a history of noble kings and knights in shining armour riding forth to save the realm from the forces of evil.

Could Batman, Superman and Captain America be compensating for this lack?

Are superheroes in capes the American equivalent of knights in shining armour?

    Discuss.

    Or don't.

    Whatever.

  • Just saw the movie with the kid (who couldn't see it with her friends so I was drafted as a second choice) and it was great!!

    Questions:

1: Can Superman procreate with humans from Earth. (My kid thinks this is a weird question but I don't)

2: Wasn't Wonder Woman fierce and will Batman and Wonder Woman ever hook up?

3: Has Superman ever eaten anything? I can't remember him eating anything.

4: Aren't you glad technology has brought our comic books to life?

5: Who was the best Lex Luther? Kevin Spacy, Gene Hackman or Jesse Eisenberg?

    • 1) Of course, if the sex doesn't kill the woman, the childbirth would. But yes, in the comics...Superman can father children.

      2) In the comics, depending on the story line, Wonder Woman is either Batman's lover or Superman's. In the Justice League stories, she and Batman flirt, and are an item.

But in some graphic novels, Superman and Wonder Woman are mated.

      3) Yes. He doesn't need to eat, but he does.

      4) Absolutely.

      5) None. Mark Strong should be Lex Luthor. Bryan Cranston would be great. And Dan Riffle would be excellent as Luthor's toady assistant, Igor.

    • I can see why. The movie only attracts the DC Comics fan. Kids really shouldn't see it (too dark, too violent), Critics won't like it, because they aren't fans.

And it's not for the general audience, like Marvel movies are.

      And..it isn't a date movie at all.

So, it will carve out a smaller niche of DC comics fans. My guess is that it will level off to a lower attendance by fans that are going to see it several times.

I'm also guessing that DVD sales will be huge.

But toy sales? Not so much. This isn't a kid's movie.

And....you just posted that to mess with me. Shame on you. Shame...shame.

By the way, worldwide? Half a Billion dollars in ticket sales. Just saying....
