Gray, damp and gloomy here, today, but the promise of spring is in the air.

Happy Easter, everyone.

Cheers. - Frank

Happy Easter to you also. Gray and gloomy here also but I've been doing yard and garden cleanup. I'm beat and just going to watch some movies I got from the library Sat.

Uh huh. Stick to that story. Looks more like you came up with a permanent solution for the men in your life on two different occasions.

      Nice country though

Ha ha ... I loved that movie and didn't grasp the meaning of all that corn sitting around the kitchen at first.

There are some beautiful flowers here now - but someone had to actually point them out to me as I never saw any snow this winter and things have been consistently green.

I'm kinda messed up on the seasonal thing.

Was tired this last week and was not sure if that was the result of Marketing Mayhem, or the time change, or just spring in general - or the fact I went on the wagon for 4 days no redbull and vodka.

            hmmmmm............

Today I've kicked into icetea with my medicinal elixer shot.

Working so far, but should probably kick to decaf (omg, did I just say that - decaf?)

    Fixed it for you.

70 degrees outside today. Went to see Batman V Superman.

Didn't think of Dan Riffle once. So, it was a good day.

I'm in Florida indefinitely now with exception that I have a storage unit in upstate NY that needs to be addressed. But I'm not in a permanent home.

I'm looking at land currently to purchase to stick a tiny house on. Though I won't be actually ready for the house for another couple years most likely.

Unless something drastically sways me another direction my mind is pretty made up on this.

If I really miss the snow at any point in my life going forward (seriously not likely) then I have plenty of friends to visit up north.

Most of my friends did the New York to Florida thing and the third thing they count as certain (after death and taxes) is the fact they are never going back to the cold to live. visit to see a White Christmas maybe but live ? get outta here.

Damp and gloomy here today but we got lucky on Easter Day. 70 degrees, sunny, great breeze - and spent most of the day outdoors.

Big storms came close to us last night and I sat out on the patio in the dark watching the lightening display to the north and west. Beautiful.

We didn't have much snow this year - rather mild winter and I'm enjoying winters after so many years in the south. I appreciate Spring so much more when I have to wait for it and don't waste a single summer day.

The sound of Canadian geese on the neighbor's pond for the past 3 seasons has replace the rooster I listened to in the south. There are some things I miss from the coast - seagulls, pelicans, cranes, crepe myrtles, the tides. But I love the change of seasons here.

Not quite as pretty as the rose picture above, but all the fields have been plowed here for a couple of weeks, waiting for the crops to be planted. Today was the first day I went into town and as I passed the farms, I could smell the manure laid out on the fields. lol. Some might think it's gross, but it's a certain sign of Spring here and soon the crops will be coming up and it's quite beautiful. I'm so accustomed to that smell in the Spring that it's not in the least bit unpleasant ... it's a promise of things to come.

I understand it well. Although I have always been partial to the experience, it was not until driving around S. Jersey last spring in the convertible, that I fully grasped how an overwhelming sense of a very particular type of smell could heighten one's appreciation for the basic truths of nature.

Some people think that swamps smell awful. I have always thought that if there actually was a heaven it would smell like a swamp. If there is a more perfect environment in nature, I can't imagine what it could be.

Beauty is in the nose of the inhaler. :-)

Last summer I walked into a stable with a woman I knew only slightly. Just as I was inhaling the wonderful smell of horses and horse manure...she said "ewww, that stinks".

I knew right then I wasn't going to like her. I was right.

If she said "ewww that stinks" and then laughed after, do you think your perception may have been different?

I don't know but she wasn't kidding. Her response was "those smelly beasts" while mine is "those gorgeous horses"....

It's the same feeling I've had on occasion with a man who says "I don't like dogs in the house" or "I don't like cats"....my gut response is "this isn't going to work".

Reminds me of my last boyfriend who was caught perusing and using to the fullest extent imaginable dating sites for swingers, male on male, male with couples, male with just about anything warm blooded ... lol.

I didn't have a clue until the evidence was before me. I was devastated. I was making arrangements to leave and I bought Buddy, my Westie.

He was trying to smooth things over and fix the relationship and said I should stay ... but ... it's either me or the dog.

It wasn't a tough choice. I still have Buddy. He got me through a really tough time and has been my loyal companion ever since.

I remember having to put my foot down with my wife. We got into an argument, and I said "It's either me or the goldfish!".

I really hated that goldfish. Fish food everywhere. Scales on my food. Constantly blowing bubbles at me. Staring at me when I made love with my wife....

Of course, that meant I was also staring at the goldfish during love making. And that's what started the argument.

        Damn goldfish.

But everything changed when we got the cat. That goldfish straightened right up....and then disappeared.

Damn cat, with his wet paws all over everything...staring at me when my wife and I make love.......

I'm with you, Kay! People who regard animals as "things", "irritations", "smelly", "too messy", and so on, are usually people I'm not going to like or respect much, if at all.

I've always been a huge animal lover (love horses and miss having one to ride) and have found the joy animals have brought into my life vastly outweigh any very minor inconveniences (like having to clean the litter box or stall).

If anyone said to me, "it's you or your cat", the choice would be a very easy one!

And then there was Claude with his (wife's) goldfish...

I had to LOL at that one. I clearly remember a 'discussion' with a sort-of-significant other years ago...when I said "trust me, you DON'T want to say 'it's me or the dog'....."

Hadn't thought of that in years....
