Cops Drink n Drive All The Time. So Leave Me Alone.

Has anyone ever seen a cop leave a cop bar and not drive. So why do they not show leniency to others if the situation warrants it.

The First time dui laws are made to get your money and to turn you in to a criminal with a record. But these cops don't care. They will act like it's their duty to not let you slide. But then they will have drinks at the sports bars or wherever and then drive with no worries because they are cops.

If I was a billionaire. I would hire my own agency to follow every cop around and issue them dui as soon as they leave the cop bar. And then we will follow up to make sure that the dmv suspends their license for the 4 months. This will make cops wake up about how hypocritical they are.

Anyways. Dui related conversation can go here.

Funny. I had to log in (twice) just to call the post asinine.

Isn't it interesting... not too long ago at all, the lot of us were logged in all day long, and chatted back and forth freely... and now we have to decide if it's even worth the effort.

        Disappointing.

In all honesty that is kind of weird for some to log in to besmirche a off topic thread and then log out after you had your bashing fun. But more power to you.

You probably rock at the family gatherings. Lol.

New here. I thought off topic forums were for off topic threads? I felt safe after seeing a thread survey of usernames for a date site.

Plus what is upstairs and downstairs? I'm new so I honestly don't know.

would that be slide like into some family's car and kill their children? Your other post was fine but this one is definitely off the rails. Got to call them like I see them.

and yes - it is their duty. If they do it the answer is to prosecute them too not let them and others off because some officers do.

Its fine down here though. As we learned recently upstairs at times can have a lot more sense than down stairs (probably most of the time)

In all honesty. Cops are suppose to be held to a higher standard. So the hypocritical ones do tick me off.

They just know that no one polices the police unless some video of them doing something goes viral.

It was also just in the news of several busted cops from different states would pull females over and negotiate sexual favors aka sexually assaulted them in order to let them slide from a dui or some misdemeanor.

Most cops behaving badly do go viral so thats a good thing now that just about everyone has cameras in their phones.

    Sigh.

First, you can't "issue" someone a DUI unless you're authorized to do so. So there goes your private agency idea.

Second, it's not automatically illegal to have a drink in a bar (or anywhere else) and get in your car and drive afterwards. (If the officer is still on duty that's another story). The illegal part is if you've drank enough to put your blood alcohol concentration at or above the legal limit, which is 0.08 in all 50 states here in the U.S. (That limit is 0.04 for commercial drivers.)

How much alcohol it takes someone to reach that limit varies from one person to the next, depending on a variety of factors including body weight, the amount of time over which the alcohol was consumed, and several other factors.

So, if an off-duty cop consumes alcohol in a bar and drives away, that doesn't automatically mean he or she deserves a DUI. (You would know that if you'd bothered to check your facts before spouting off from your high horse...) Nor does it automatically mean the cop is a hypocrite.

Lastly, why should you or anyone whose BAC is above the legal limit when driving be allowed to slide?? If your driving is impaired by alcohol you are endangering innocent people. If you can't be responsible with regards to your alcohol consumption, that's on you. Don't blame the laws or the officers who enforce them.

So you can't call a cop on a off duty cop for suspected drinking and driving and then stand there and video tape the breath and sobriety field test?

And then follow up the next day if they failed that initial breath test to make sure that their license was taken away and they were charged.

Also. You would simply assume that the cop leaving the bar was a responsible drinker; So there is no need to make sure that he was .08 or higher.

Also let's not forget how many times the cops did a rolling stop or turned on sirens just to run the red light and then turn them off.

But he will ticket you for those as well. But hey. He's a cop. He's above the law. Right.

So, a cop is seen coming out of a bar, therefore he/she must be drunk.

What if they only had one drink?

What if they were drinking coke, orange juice, or water (to name three different types of drink I've had in bars)?

Does he say that when he sees you getting in your car after leaving the bar. Or does he say he has a reason to believe that you been drinking.

I'm not saying that it's okay to drink and drive. I'm just saying that I would love to know if the cops that enforce the dui laws actually do the same things themselves without punishment.

But I guess if all the dui off duty cops were actually busted; Then there would be no one to drive the patrol cars.

So in my opinion. This is why they let these cops slide. And if you don't think that this happens all the time. Then you may be very gullible to how law enforcement protects their own.

I assure you that we're not gullible and we know that not all cops abide to the law 100% of times but what am I supposed to do about it, I have better things to do then going on a corrupt cop crusade.

Btw I also want avoid trying to get a cap in my arse.

You say you want to know IF cops do the same thing without punishment....but then you seem to go in the belief they do.

Does it ever happen? Probably - they are human after all. I doubt it's a common thing and don't know why you think it is.

This is why they let these cops slide.
Who are "they" - and where are "they" - and where are the numbers documented that you say "this happens all the time"??
