Hello!

I've been mostly staying in the Offline section, but started poking around the site and found this one.

I work full time for a sign company -- hired to work in the office, but then they found out I can do websites, social media, etc., so now I handle all of that, plus venturing into PPC -- but I wouldn't mind starting something on the side for extra money (which is why I was lurking around the other forum sections).

Just saying hi.

    Starting an online business as a side "thingie" is a good plan. It's how I started - and many others here, too.

    Look into various options till you find a method/business that suits you - fits what you like to do, etc - then learn everything you can about THAT model and ignore all the shiny objects that try to distract you.

    When you aren't desperate and have some common sense about how things work...this stuff isn't all that hard to do.

    It's a great side business for a lot of people.

    But I'd love to start something on the side for extra money and "just in case," you know?

      My advice is figure out a way for doing something that's mostly automated after it's setup. You're already working 5 days a week so really part time is all you have to work with.

      Stay away from service type jobs because that's basically getting payed by the hour (time is money).

      Aim for something that will make you money while your working your offline job & sleeping.

      As an example, I'm working on developing some new Windows software, I'll either sell it or give it away for free & monetize inside the app. with relevant affiliate links. Again, the goal here is do most of the work upfront because there's only so many hours in a day.
