Just curious.... wonder if they had a change here. Just check View Profile: Alaister , he has not been here since Febuary, blantant spam today and no clean up? Lack of users lately, is the death nail about to be installed or a major shake up taking place? Or maybe stockholders and investors are not seeing the returns they wanted in this place? Not trying to start crap, sent him a e-mail to see if he even is here anymore.

Alaister is no longer listed on Freelancer's management page.

    https://www.freelancer.com/about/management

On his Twitter feed he says this on his profile...

"Startup and Technology enthusiast. Founder and managing editor @theraregent"

    https://twitter.com/alaisterlow

Yeah, it looks Alaister Low is completely gone from Freelancer, or he has taken on a seriously reduced role. This is what the Freelancer management page showed late 2015 under Senior Management.

Alaister's profile was removed from the Freelancer management page in Feb. 2015. From what I can see, the Warrior Forum is not mentioned on the FL management page at this time.

The Freelancer site says Matt O'Kane is "responsible for formulating and executing the plans of the product and technical teams of Freelancer.com and its related websites"...he had the same role listed back when Alaister was there as well.

Don't know if you noticed - but Danieljb - an Admin who was very active - hasn't logged in since January. Some people may have come on board just for the initial transition. That would make sense.

Rather than dedicated mods we seem to have FL employees with other duties who check in here every now and then. My guess is most of those only look to see the "reported threads" as spam seems to remain UNTIL it's reported. Maybe employees "flag" threads and/or members and someone in charge stops in 1-2 times per day to make decisions...just a guess as that's what I would do.

I'm not complaining about it. Honestly, I thought WF would be a redirect by now so things have gone better than I expected.

FL has done a lot to maximize the ad revenue and expand profits of WF - not much more to do in that direction. A smart business person would then look at decreasing overhead by streamlining the process (the feed?) and reducing employee hours/overhead to keep profit moving in the right direction.

Oh? I'm no expert, but I personally think they're squandering their long-tail potential. With 8 million posts, they could easily place a few third-party text ad spaces on every single page, and then let Google (or whoever) spider the entire site to determine the most relevant ad for each page. This would be absolutely trivial for them, and yet, with all of the "experts" that they kept bringing in for their Ask Me Anything's, this somehow never came up? They certainly have no problem in monkeying around with every other aspect of the site design.

Once they went for that lowest-hanging fruit, they could then spend a pinch of energy to determine the top 100 (or whatever) most popular inbound searches, and then customize the ads on those specific landing pages to suit. For example, I have no idea what leadimpact, fptraffic, or trafficvance are, but Alexa and Google say that WF is the #2 search engine result for each of them, and I'm sure that that traffic's valuable with just a bit of effort.

But considering how much energy they put into driving people away from this site, I'm sure they have similar incompetence running the revenue side.

I think the point for them is there is a tipping point at which more ads - or different ads - don't contribute enough revenue to balance the loss of participation.

With the majority of new members coming from geographic areas where limitations on income, banking or paypal is a problem - I doubt if "ads" are as profitable here as they were in the past. It's rather clear if you look at the diminished number/variety of banner ads being placed now.

There are always ways to place more ads or move to a new type ad, etc - but the law of diminishing returns might apply here.

Urm, what does this forum have to do with your business? If you want to start a business, either online or otherwise, it's completely up to you. Certainly there are cons going on here, and there's (very) occasional wisdom, but the "Internet Dream" itself is not necessarily a con. It's up to you to figure out a path, and then apply yourself to follow it. That responsibility is 100% yours, not this forum's or that of anyone who participates here.

Not sure what "AGM" means, but assuming that it's something like Freelancer's annual general meeting....

If top management is so clueless that they can't be bothered to know what's happening with a multi-million-dollar asset, they pretty much deserve to lose it. If they're "too big" to "deal" with that, then at least hire someone who's smart and passionate enough to take on personal "ownership" of the asset. It's not rocket science.

Not to worry, the multi million dollar asset is rapidly becoming a multi thousand dollar asset at which point they can simply put it from their mind.

Look gibbon, you're attitude is part of the problem. All these cries to ban people for this that and the other helps no one. We should all be moving forward together, warriors in unison. All for one and one for all, that should be our device because a house divided against itself cannot stand. By union the smallest states thrive. By discord the greatest are destroyed. Even the weak become strong when they are united, for the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack. I hope you will all heed my sage words of wisdom, because if not, I fear the worst fellow warriors.

The 2015 Freelance annual report is worth checking out. The business is doing well and let's get real - the WF is only a small part of it. They do a good job in the report of presenting the WF positives....

In 2015 Warrior Forum passed through one million users, and has had an overhaul on its user interface. In 2015 Warrior Forum sent some of the most successful daily deal emails to date, breaking the previous records and demonstrating depth of engagement with its user base.
