I guess this will be another one of those movies remade every now and then in some form or another.

The cast of the 1960 original is tough to beat....Yul Brenner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Robert Vaughn, Horst Buchholz, James Coburn and Brad Dexter.

The original is one of my all-time favorite westerns...hopefully this one comes close to the original's high bar.

The original is actually The Seven Samurai, which itself is a pretty slick movie. I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it.

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

Righto, righto, righto, but Seven Samurai is not a Western, and this Danzel film is a remake of the original Magnificent Seven, not a remake of Seven Samurai. A great many people do believe the three and one-half hour Japanese blockbuster is a better movie than the original Magnificent Seven western adaptation. That said, both Kurosawa's 1954 flick and the original The Magnificent Seven (1960) are better movies than the three Magnificent Seven sequels that were released...

      Return of the Seven (1966)
Guns of the Magnificent Seven (1969)
      The Magnificent Seven Ride (1972)

      And let us not forget...

The Magnificent Seven TV Series (1968-70)

I"m just hoping this version of the Magnificent Seven is, well, magnificent!

      Cheers

James Horner wrote the score for this film based solely on the script and it's believed he was going to give it as a present the director, Antoine Fuqua, as a gift as they became friends from working together on Southpaw (2015). Due to James' death however, he never was able to give it to him personally. James died in a plane crash on June 22nd, 2015.

My wife and I both enjoyed SE7EN....a really, really good flick. She's a big Pitt fan so not much chance of me missing that one.
