More Spam or Just Me?

Hey guys. Over the last week or so I have noticed a lot more spam posts in this forum.

I wonder if someone created a course that told these idiots to spam the warrior forum. If they did buy a course that told them to do this, than they should get a refund...lol

These are the worse spammers I have ever seen.

Not only are there spam post blatantly obvious, they are not even persuasive enough to entice anyone to click on there links.

Am I the only one who has noticed this or am I completely wrong?

It's more than just the one.
There are dozens of WSO's and coaching courses that teach this practise.
Together with the "post a stupid question" as the same people with
loud sig files will answer over and over and attract some attention.

    No more than usual.

Instead of commenting on each of these, simply report the post to the mods (red triangle w/ exclamation point in the bottom left sidebar)

I agree - no more than usual. However, fewer people are reporting - and mods are often not catching the spam unless it's reported.

Well it's tough for the mods to catch everything. I think they do a good job of reaching out to experienced members for suggestions about things that are going on with the forum. I love this forum. The more we can band together to fight "spam crime", the more we can help each other out with marketing insight, and actually work to lower the success to failure rate online.

That's the problem, too many people answering every single stupid question to attract attention to themselves and not enough of us reporting it....

As someone who posts 6 times a day everyday for the past 5 years, How many have you reported this week?

Sorry, but if I can log on and immediately see 8-12 spam posts/threads in the first 5 minutes...so can the mods.

Yes, FL is now reaching out to experienced members here (maybe to everyone for all I know) and that's a positive sign to me ONLY because it is a long time member who is doing the "reaching".

This has been going on for months now. I hope the people who are doing it are not paying someone to post for them because if they are they are getting ripped off.

This is a totally ridiculous way to try and get traffic and it doesn't work at all. Who in their right mind would click these links? And even if they do get a few clicks here and there, how many of those clicks actually convery to leads or sales? My guess is NONE.

It's just a dumb practice. I really hope WF can come up with some way to block it because sometimes it's so bad it takes up the entire first page of the main forum.

I don't know why, but it seems like they are chasing for some easy money... Who even could believe in them, I mean in their spam? Honestly most of the time these spam posts sounds just ridiculous. It's even worse, when people start selling ebooks about that.

So when we will see another spam post, let's not ignore it, and report it!

We are working on new features to reduce spam drastically.

As mentioned above by Sid and others: simply report the post to the mods (red triangle w/ exclamation point in the bottom left sidebar).

Thanks so much for your cooperation!

I am also reaching out to a few "senior" members to hear their opinion/feedback on how we can continue to improve the forum we all love.

I don't think any new features are needed.
Just get the old feature working, moderation.
As Kay mentioned above, if we can see all the junk, why can't the mods?
That includes the daily moronic questions like "How do I earn online"
      just about everyday.
Nothing is going to stop all this other than human intervention.
All that is needed are some mods that are awake, can read,
but more important is they actually want to do something about
      this constant garbage posted here.
Failing that there really is no hope here.

I've heard about you reaching out to a few senior members. Good luck with that. You (FL) ran off most of them. Hell I'm not a long time member and I see zero value in logging in anymore.
Dan, a few posts above yours you have a guy spamming. More like link dropping, but you didn't even catch that!
First thread in the main forum when I logged in.. spam.

Freelancer needs to decide what direction they want this forum to go. And then, stick to it. You want it to be a place of value again? Tighten up the reigns for a while. You can't possibly lose any money.

I've been around a lot longer than my join date. My wife has been a member for long time as well. Neither one of us come here. It used to be a daily thing. Sad.

First thing, deal with the frustration of valuable members. I'm not referring to join date. Go through and find the members that no longer post here, haven't signed in for a long time. Ask them, and then listen. Really listen.

      Hello Dan,

For the better part of four years here I have reported things until I am almost blue in the face ---> at some point your mod team needs to become more knowledgeable and proactive. Instead of waiting on reports they should be actively and diligently patrolling the forum themselves.

The previous forum mods were active forum participants that were knowledgeable in internet marketing and also knowledgeable in forum moderation and administration. To successfully operate a forum with the complexities of a large internet marketing forum --> this is a crucial component for forum health, growth, and decline prevention.

The mods here need to become a part of the fabric of the forum ---> as it stands now, I see little sign of this happening. Until this happens....I believe the quality of the posted forum content will continue to decline. In no way do I intend to offend the current mod staff, it's just the way it is.

As have many others, I've posted my thoughts on this in several threads over the past couple of years...one of the my most recent comments on this subject was made here:

      http://www.warriorforum.com/suggesti...##post10660359

Some great comments on this forum's decline have been posted by Mark Singletary and Rod Cortez and several others over the past couple of years as well.... It would behoove the FL team to start heeding the advice given by some of the WF veterans that are (and have been for long time) solid forum participants. I've been a member and a mod of forums since 1996....and I suppose some others that are still left here have even more experience than I do. You should be calling on some of that experience for the greater good of the forum.

If you do start calling on some of that experience (as Mr. Says did), I believe you may be able to stop the flood of shoddy content being posted to these boards. If you stop the flood of shoddy content, then you have a "chance" at winning back a few of the good marketers that have left this joint for greener pastures, and slow down the current ongoing exodus of veteran IMers.

Heck, most of the mods you are using now can't even tell when a basic forum function has been broken and can't identify a lot of the one line sig spam. You really do need some experience on your team that has been dealing with marketers, scammers, trolls and forum administration/moderation.

Never in a million years would I have canned the previous mod team and staffed one of the largest marketing forums on the net with mostly young guys that are greener than grass!

If you need an example of an excellent, experienced, proactive mod/admin....take a quick look here:

      http://www.warriorforum.com/suggesti...##post10683920

Good ol' Paul Myers....helping me and others diagnose a forum bug in the middle of the night. Personally, I have busted more than a dozen members dumping pirated goods on this forum. If a regular member like me can be this proactive in my spare time, just imagine what wonders an experienced proactive mod team could do for this place.

The bottom line... You need peeps that both know better and care. Right now, it appears as if you don't have many of those, and that's unfortunate for all almost all parties involved.

      Regards,

      -don

It seems like every time they fix something or introduce something new, something else breaks. Most recently, members were unable to stay logged in, and it went on for weeks. When that was finally fixed, clicking the link to read the first unread post stopped working. Submitting a post reloads the page at the top, not at the post you just made. Clicking the link that's supposed to go to the last post simply opens the thread at the first post. That's not all, but getting these things fixed would be a start.

Spam is only one reason many quality members have cut back drastically on the time they spend here, or have left entirely. The ongoing dysfunction of the forum software is another. Sooner or later people tire of broken things and move on from them. There are more reasons for the exodus as well, many more.

I am also reaching out to a few "senior" members to hear their opinion/feedback on how we can continue to improve the forum we all love.
Interesting. Reaching out in what way?

And, let's hope you're reaching out to the right people, because there are many "senior" members who will bring up ideas that benefit them that been proven to be ill-advised on the whole. Of course, if history proves an indicator of the future, this will be just another "hit and run" staff comment that will soon be forgotten...and nothing changes.

Just from lurking the forums for the past few years, this place has taken a major hit to post quality. If I'm honest it never really was the best for top quality info, but ever since the take over it seems a lot more spammy and the people running it are more interested in trying to sell the members something.
