Here's Morgan Freeman singing on the old educational show The Electric Company way back in 1971. While this song was intended to teach kids how to read, it really has a great bluesy sound and shows what a great singing voice Morgan Freeman has...

I thought the same thing too, about how little he's changed over all those years.

I also agree he has a great singing voice for the blues. He reminds me a bit of Nat King Cole in how smooth his voice is and in his annunciation. Both sang every syllable perfectly clearly, which not all blues singers did/do.

And what a pretty song. I did a google to see who may have written it, but the only thing I can come up with is the Electric Company version. I wonder if it's an original song for the show and if so, I wonder if Morgan Freeman had a part in writing it?

Shoo Shoo Sunshine' was written by Joe Raposo and Elaine Laron. The song was written specifically to help teach children the 'sh' sound. Joe was the music director for the show's first three seasons... Raposo wrote for The Electric Company, Shining Time Station, Three's Company and The Ropers among others. Laron was a songwriter and the head lyricist for The Electric Company --> she wrote 30+ songs for The Electric Company in '71 & '72.

I'm feelin' a bit Shoo Shoo, myself. Presenting an ol' favorite Shoo Shoo Baby done by the Andrews sisters...made famous in 1943-44.
