Hi Warriors,

If you are a full time internet marketer like me, it is likely that you are not spending all your time on working. You sure will be tempted to download movies from torrents/rapidshare. If I am right, you will watch those movies on the PC just like I did for years.

For people like us, having a home theater system with blu-ray player just doesn't seem to work. Who wants all the fuss. Using the PC is what we want.

Or if you have a dream of buying a 46 inches HDTV with the 5.1 mega audio system in the "future" , it probably is a little costly / time consuming to make the right choice of TV for you and you are postponing it for "someday".

Ok, dont wait anymore. Try what I did. Maximum value for money and ease of use...

I bought Altec Lansing 2.1 system for around $150 (You may want to go for FX5051 now)

Bought a SONY Bravia W Series 32" HDTV with motionflow technology (100Hz Refresh rate) for around $1100 (Malasia made). 40" and 46" is too costly for me and hence cannot risk buying from grey market. More over for my room (16 ft x 16 ft)... 32" seemed the right size.

Bought a Sony HDMI cable for around $65 and connected it with my PC & HDTV.

ta da... my mini-home theatre (or say pseudo home theater) is ready. :p

I browse the internet in my PC as usual, and when I want to see movies, I just switch the display to the TV. No handling of DVDs, players and the usual stuff the home theater has).

This setup also works as dual monitors, but it is not that comfortable to use the TV for browsing/work. For presentations its great.

So what do you think? BTW the prices I mentioned are in India.

And my computer came with a RF wireless keyboard which now also acts as a remote when I am in 'Movie mode'.

Is there anyway I can improve my experience? Suggestions?

Sorry pal, using the PC is not what we (I) want. When it's time to unwind and take in a movie, I want to be on my couch with my feet on the coffee table and a beer or something in my hand.

Sitting right in front of the screen works for some people, not for me. I have a DLP projector sitting on a bookcase behind my couch. It gives me a tack sharp 90 inch picture on my wall. Sound comes from my good old Marantz SR-5000 and my Paradigm Monitor 9 speakers.

I get a lot of my movies from the net, like you, but it is no problem for me to burn a DVD-RW and plonk it in the player.

For me, getting out of the chair and onto the couch or even the floor is a release in it self. I spend most of the night and most of the day in front of my computers, breaking the connection (metaphorically) is necessary, otherwise you become a slave. I'm in this business to avoid slavery. Turning off the computers or at least the monitors must be done at some point each day just to remain human.

    But that's just me.

I used to think that I would hate watching TV on my laptop but then I got creative. I solved the "getting comfortable" problem by laying in bed with my laptop on my stomach. With the screen that close and "3 times" reading glasses, my 15 inch widescreen looks like a movie theater screen! It really does!

Just add a pair of quality headphones and the sound is also superior to a movie theater!

Of course that method does require a laptop and you should be careful that you don't drop it to the floor while reaching for the popcorn!
