Just watched this, (probably isn't available in AU) and in part explains extremism about a plausible scenario.

I find this to be more likely....

I mean if you where taking a walk in a forest,a UFO landed 20 metres away, and someone came up to you, what could you do?

Some would run away in stark terror, some might even keel over, but l would freeze, and tell myself, that running away is pointless, so l may as well, see what they want.

Fear of the unknown is strong, but it is a fear, none the less, and can be overcome with familiarity and intelligence.

If they where, nasty or stupid, then it is unlikely that they would be there, so say hello in the first place.

Eventhough Hollywood rams, we come in peace, shoot to kill, down our throats, (except Avatar) l would say that there is more to than that.

First contact, will be a combination of terror and excitement, but eventually an alien will walk amougt us, and we won't bat an eyelid.

When?

Within the next 20 years, (more or less).

I like to think that even if I am terrified (which is likely), I would not run.

If I ran, I would forever wonder, "What if...?"

It would be a historic opportunity.

Fear of the unknown may be a human reaction...I'm attracted to the unknown. My first impulse may be to protect my wife. But if I were alone? I'd do anything I could to learn from the visitors....even if they meant to do us harm.

Their knowledge would be irresistible to me.

Added later; I suspect that we'll never be visited by aliens. Any resources they may get from us, they could get cheaper and faster from a closer planet. And if we are visited, they aren't going to be here to "share" their knowledge.

I hope the first person they hit with their LASER is Kurt. Sure, he'll burn, but for a very brief moment after..we'll think they were here to help us.

What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

Well, I would try to find out what they are like first, and maybe what kind of ability/culture they had. If it were the first kind, I would certainly NOT elect to go to their planet like that until I saw several go and come back. Of course I would be suspicious at the start because they gave SO much. I really think such exchanges would be more like star trek.

With the second one, I would probably be more active when the guy was away from the ship and the robot. Again, I wouldn't be so carefree around the robot.

If they were guys like on ID, I wouldn't approach, and would probably just try to see what I could find out.

True, why run, they could just as easily snatch us up while we sleep, so it is best to see what they want.

Good point, unless they are spiritually advanced, then it is more likely that they would want to save us from ourselves.

Yes, when Claude steps on the scales before entering the spaceship, l would expect a big grin from the alien.

I refuse to answer that on the grounds that l might, incriminate myself, or have to admit that the year 2033, stands out!

No that is completely beside the point, although l am pretty good at remote viewing, and the year 2033, stands out like a sore thumb, so something pretty big will happen in that year.

I am not sure what it is, it could just be Ell McPherson is elected president, but it is a biggie, so naturally with all of the increases in UFO signtings, etc, that first contact will happen in that year.

Well, that and other related evidence concerning Mars, yeah, ok,...that strongly suggests that it is M class, helps.
