My name is Chimica (sha-me-ka)

I had a jerk in a forum last month say " no one was named that and that I was a troll"

a month later it's still hunting me.

I hated my name as a child and after that jerk I hate my name all over again.

Not hunting for compliments ; just wondering if my name is in fact weird.

*hugs* I have people ask me "is that your real name?" all the time. People ask if I made it up. Tell me it's not really my name. Etc.

i have no idea if you are a troll. But I can tell you that your name is distinctive. And that's always good. This is coming from a man named Claude.

I can't remember why or when however many people would rather call me "Jon" than "Jonathan." And I kind of went with that and introduced myself as "Jon.". However these days I respect the name my Parents gave me and introduce myself as "Jonathan."

If you had a sense of humour as your parents clearly did you wouldn't worry about your name. Just kidding.

I like the name, honestly. It doesn't sound strange or weird or poncey or common, it's just a cool distinctive name. I couldn't find a meaning for it but when I searched sha-me-ka the first result I get is this - Urban Dictionary: Shameka

Edited because I put unique name but agree with Claude, the word probably should be distinctive.

Yeah I just don't understand those people that don't have common names like mine - Singletary.

I don't think it's necessarily weird or normal or anything. It's just your name.

I feared the worst .. I have always worn my heart on my arm and darn that jerk really upset me.

It's nice to know I'm just distinctive and unique vs a weird name that a troll would make up.

My figure is so much better than a troll!

LOVED the unusual name list made me laugh for close to an hour.

Why let others upset your peace? You aren't responsible for what other mean people think. Personally, I've been on the Internet a rather long time and when I first started out, I thought it was invaded by mean aliens from another universe. It truly isn't your problem if someone doesn't like your name.

Wasn't there, way back in time little rhyme or something like, I'm rubber and you're glue, anything nasty you say bounces offa me and sticks on you.

It's your name, it's part of you. Don't be ashamed just because somebody needs to annoy you. Let it go and laugh at them. It's their problem. People do things while their actual identities are somewhat masked on the Net, but probably wouldn't have the balls to do it to your face where a mighty right hook, properly placed, could knock them back into proper position and some serious reconsideration of bad behavior.

Your name has a nice sound to it and DOES match characteristics of some names in some areas.

Your name is definitely unusual for some places, like the US, but SO WHAT?

My name is stephen. At one point it was one of the most popular names for males in the US. STILL, the germanic equivalent is a bit different, the spanish equivalent is even more different, and it is probably nearly unheard of in several cultures. SO WHAT?

Don't worry about something like this, there are plenty of other things to worry about.

Here's one for you. Go to Hawaii and see how long before someone says "Ivana lei you."

People may have a lot of trips around the sun, but many are still eight when it comes to humor.
