I think the most reasonable age in which a person should be retire is 55, because that age requires you to make the retirement. So my plan to retire is somewhere around 55.

I'll probably never retire but I intend to buy a motorcycle next June and travel the country blogging it all on my next project, AmericanTravelBlog.com
I have even looked at a webcam for my helmet.

I'd really like to retire at the age of 55 if it's possible. But life throws unexpected curves always, so I don't know how realistic my goal will be until I get more so around that age.

    Retire?

Why in the world would I do such a thing?

I just don't get it. People actually want to stop working?

What sort of hellish career choices did they make?

Retire? I do that about every night. As far as working - I am in the process of migrating my monetary concerns from one shape to another that will be more conducive to me keeping active in what I want to be active in -- which, of course, is rock and gem hunting. I like keeping fit and love finding stuff.

I wonder what my body would start to look like if I "retired" from that? I think it would be rather uncomfy to have your buns slapping the back of your legs when you walk. Nah- I think I'll keep at it until I get my "permanent move" notice from the Big Guy -- If there is something to hunt after that wherever I end up, that will be fine, too.

As long as a person loves what he or she is doing there is no need to even think about retirement I would say.
Anyways retirement I guess can become really boring very quickly.

I retired from the cubicle farms 8 years ago. Will never go back. Have been doing my own thing ever since. Now I have just the right mix of time for work I like to do and time to play (hike, ride the motorcycle, kayak, etc).

Although I don't have a set-in-stone age at which I'm looking to retire, I'm looking for it to be as early as possible.

My long-term goal is to establish a smallholding and become as self-sufficient as possible. Beyond that, I'd like to travel around and see the world and experience other cultures as much as possible.

My drive to boast and impress others is pretty low and therefor my desire for material posessions is relatively low - to me life is all about experiences. I'd actually take great pleasure from land husbandry so some land is high up on my list of things to purchase (though suitable land isn't so cheap).

I'm only 22 at the moment so there's plenty of time yet, and whilst I wouldn't say I'm in a rush I do realize life is (or can be) short and so I'm keen to get there as quickly as possible.

Nice promo for your site which is hidden nicely in the tags.

But aside from that i am hoping to retire at 25. So 7 to 8 years time!

Hopefully before that but it depends what sort of things i want in life and what level of income i need to get those things and also how much i enjoy working online.

With IM the sky is the limit... but stretching that limit is when you succeed!

I've been semi-retired for 4 years - since age 31. Now I travel full time and work on projects for local organizations which may not have the resources to hire someone with my background and skill set.

Keep the cash-flow positive rather than dipping into savings I putz around with IM.

I will never really stop working though. I've tried it and my brain starts to go to mush. So instead of J.O.B.s I volunteer with non-profits.

I'd like to be partially retired at 35 and a half that gives me about two years so all i have to do now is find the right way to make a passive full time income online. Any advice for a newbie with limited capitol from a seasoned vet would be immensely appreciated. I already know i got one step in the right, joining the warrior forum

I don't plan on retiring. If you love what you do and can still do it, why would you want to stop? Sure, I'm probably going to have to do less the older I get, but I don't plan on stopping completely

Sal is right. I once thought about retiring around the age of 22. But then I realized that if I retire, that also means I won't be running my own business and earning my own income, with that said, I think I'll retire when I'm pushing up daisies.
