Google Business Conundrum

I've come across a scenario today with a local business who want a Google My Business page. They have bought the business and changed the name. However, the previous owners had a business listing and there are directory and other backlinks with NAP.

Anyone know how I can get hold of the business listing to change it for the new owners? My guess at this moment (hence not tried yet) would be to mark the business as closed, wait for Google to catch up and then reclaim the listing. But there must be a better, more controlled way than that, surely? Any ideas?

Last month, the company announced plans to beef up GCP with the addition of a machine learning framework for building and training custom data models using distributed learning algorithms based on TensorFlow.

In context with my question... WTF does that mean?

I have been through this issue a couple times. In one instance we were able to resolve with Google My Business phone support. The other instance it took more work and ended up hiring a GMB consultant to help us work the change through the system.

Thanks - very helpful. Not had to go down that route as it looks like the previous owners have removed the listing.

Is there an option to still contact the seller for the details? You may have to wait for the google post card to re verify. Be interested to hear your outcome...

In the end, the listing simply disappeared so I reckon the previous owners had it removed (thank goodness).

I think a local business is regularly possessed and worked by somebody in the group and is not part franchised by a national or worldwide partnership. Write a paper

I think an internet forum is regularly possessed and worked by crafty people looking for places to drop their backlinks .
