Hi
After delving into some SEO and content creation in 2012. I went back to a regular job.
However circumstances which I face today call for me to try self employment again.
I have no up to date information about how to make money online and would like someone to give me advice and point me in the right direction.

I have recently taught myself HTML5, CSS3 and Jquery. I am working on learning PHP at the moment.

I am also good with content creation and can create Ebooks.

Any help will be really appreciated.

There is a lot of things you can do with HTML5, CSS3 and Jquery

either join one [or all] of the small and big freelance sites, and offer your services
or go independent and offer your service to people that look for that in Googie search results

option a) = tuff competition, and they all already have a fulfillment history and ratings
hard to break into, except you offer jobs for free, just to get reviews. Less problematic
    are sites like fiverr, etc

option b) = takes some money to buy ads, but competition is not so crazy,
and you can make money within days or weeks. If your offer is good...

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply.I have already started trying to get work on Upwork on fiverr.

However inspite of offering a complete bootstrap website with added functionality for just $5. I still have found no buyers.

I am considering getting up to date with SEO techniques and then promoting my own website for services. Fiverr and Upwork take a cut of almost 20% which is significant when you the number of sales is low or gig price is low. Not to mention transfer fees and such.

I am considering buying this book.

    Would you recommend it?

sorry dont know that particular SEO course

but SEO is always good - longterm

while you wait: Consider going into PPC = adwords = quick results

before you go into it: Let me see your landing page, i will critique it
and improve whenever possible, also consider the keywords you
choose wisely, go for many cheap keywords first, once you get
orders go for the main keyword - then you will take off in a big way.

Well if you're not doing affiliate marketing then you need:

    4 THINGS:
    ---------------
    1) website, and all that goes along with that. hosting, domain, merchant account, etc
    2) An offer. It sells better if the offer meets a pressing need, and solves that need. If it's too generalized or all over the place it won't work too good.
    3) Product or service to meet that need.
    4) traffic

Then you say "self employed". that means just that. That means you get up earlier than when you did your day job, and you work even later than your old day job. Your still working full time, just for "yourself". But you have to put in the hours. You have to work your azz off until you're falling asleep at yoru computer.

Yes I have worked as a freelancer in 2012 however back then I only did Content creation, Ebooks and SEO.
This time however I aim to provide a more complete service which would include website design and development, Content Creation , SEO and SMM. Also mobile apps in the near future.

You will need to build a portfolio.
It is not about what you could do, but what you have done and how to improve on it.

You can do HTML5, CSS3 and Jquery. I am working on learning PHP at the moment.
    That's find.
Any sample website to display for potential clients to check out?

If you are on upwork, how many completed jobs?
Those are some things that will attract potential clients.

Don't just limit yourself to a single network.

Also try to market your services convincingly.
Don't say "I can DO" rather I am available on this on that platform accepting new orders.

      Old?

Hell, this is quite a new one. Some idiots are bumping 6 or 7 year old threads and complaining the links in them don't work.
