Hi,

I have been trying to learn Internet Marketing but I just cant focus on it. it seems too much time consuming and vague to me as compared to Forex trading.

I work 9 to 5 job. when I come home I don't have much spare time to learn about IM. but I can put some time to learn and practice forex trading.

does anyone feel the same way?

I find IM to be too vague and time consuming. With Forex, you just have to learn a system/strategy and practice it with Demo until you are comfortable and profitable.

but you cant do the same thing with IM. with IM, you have to go through a lot of things and actually do them and it takes a lot of time.

    Your logic is downright scary.

If you think you can trade by simply learning a system/strategy and make money long term...you're in for a rude awakening.

I would take IM any day of the week over trying to be a successful trader.

it depends, if, and that is BIG IF

if you have an automated trading program that actually works
you can trade Forex on a split-second notice, i.e. you sell whenever
you are 10 cents in profit - and you buy whenever the price drops
10 cents - and that all around the clock - THEN its a no-brainer....

Trading will consume your life but learning how to automate an Internet Marketing business will give you freedom. Like anything in life you get what you put in. Whichever direction you go in make sure you have passion for it!

Ya I hear you. Like get this... I have a really really long long background in IM. Like I know a little about "everything". And I've had huge success in the past too. But the shire volume of hours put into it is nuts. It's no wonder I gained 50 lbs, sitting at my computer all the time. It's a death sentence is what it is. And I'm still not that much farther ahead because when I made big money I blew it just as fast. Like I figured out how to make it, but I didn't study "how to keep it". Damn! Big mistake. Okay I know better now, so I'm hoping the future will be different. But ya the hours you put in and figuring it all out is nuts.

Foxex though is not that good either though. because the markets are not what people think. Not at all. From what I've seen is that they use to be a place to trade. Not anymore. Now it's a trap. You put your money in and then you lose it. It's totally and completely rigged. I'm seriously here. What's happened is that geeks that work for big wall street firms designed algorythems and computer programs to steal all the money from the people trying to trade from home. Anyone at home basically loses there money. Way too risky. Like you want to lose your money fast just get into any kind of trading. One trading idea I heard about that might work, and again it's "iffy" is you buy penny stocks that are listed at "under 1 cent" per share. So that way if the company rebounds you might make a killing. Some people have done that and made millions but again it's a long shot.

But you got to try something right.

IM is more reliable, than forex. You can lose everything with forex, it's like а black hole, like a gambling.
With IM you can earn if you undarstand what you do. And I tell you a secret, marketing specialists earn money on people who are trying to make money on Forex

There is no automated software that i can use to automate everything such as traffic, sales etc...

this is what i want. An automated software that does everything on autopilot.

unfortunately i haven't found such thing yet.

I just want to have a software that enables me to get instant traffic and sales with just press of a button.

OK, it sounds that you fell for another get rich quick hype out there. Lots of crappy sales letter out there promise to newbies that you can automate things online.

Yes, some things can be automated whether it is IM or trading. However, keep in mind that those are RISKY.

If you want to automate traffic for example, you can use GSA software. But, still, you need to learn how to use them, or at least outsource them to the third party. But keep in mind that GSA will only create low quality links to your website, so for longer term, it is not safe.

Learn How To Use GSA Search Engine Ranker To Get The BEST Results

As for trading, there are some programmers selling their software or EA robot at mql5.com, but still I haven't try those. So far, I only rely on manual trading, in other words, using candlestick pattern and indicators.

Keep in mind that those software are expensive, and in addition to paying the programmers, you also need pay for VPS server (to host the robot, otherwise the robot will go to sleep once you turned off your PC). You will want to ask the programmers lots of questions first, before jumping into conclusion. Remember, do it at your own risk.

      http://forums.babypips.com/expert-ad...omated-trading

As for trading is risky, actually there is risk on both sides. With IM you could be wasting years of your time trying to figure out what works and what doesn't. What kind of products that really sell that what not. With trading, your number one enemy could be your own emotion. Which is why, always demo trade first before jumping into real account. It depends. Good luck.

      John,

What you're describing is the proverbial magic button, the holy grail, the quick and easy road to instant wealth. There's a reason why you haven't found it yet. Here's a hint . . . . . . . you'll never find it. It just doesn't exist and never will.

That has never been what IM is all about. It's what many desperate-for-money people have heard, and it's what draws them into IM, but they either change their thinking and start working to create an income stream or they drop out with the false belief that IM is just one big scam. "It didn't work for me so it must not work for anybody else!"

Change your thinking. Start this journey of discovery with a simple plan to do one thing well. Study and learn about your method, see what others have profited from, follow those who are already successful. Begin with some research into where there is online demand. One step at a time. Learn as you go. Be creative and see where there are "gaps" or holes in the market just waiting for a solution.

Really, this business is all about finding market needs and selling a solution to those needs. It has never been about pushing a magic button.
If it were, everyone would simply buy one and be done with it.

If that existed then everyone with a computer would be rich. If you aren't willing to put in the hours nothing you can do about it.

Quit, you are not cut out for internet marketing. Im not even saying that as an insult, I had to quit for basically the same reasons 3 years ago (except no forex, that came before IM)

You do not have an entrepreneurs mindset. You will likely fail at FOREX too. Just be happy with going to work and living that life, its not so bad really. You do not have the drive to succeed at anything else. Period.

I think you should compare Forex vs Stock. As these two kinda link with global economics etc.

For me I trade a bit on stocks.

Forex no doubt can make money within minutes BUT you can make you lose a lot if you not fast and swift.

For Stocks, is more relax. Usually investors don't just over look one day performance more on weeks or even months

and yes Stocks is slow to earn " but some so call guru in fact expert on these , they are good in short buy and sell , earn fast also good to find out which stocks can be short during the day and the next "

lastly stocks give you dividends. that is a slight bonus.

I've studied Internet Marketing for a number of years - affiliate marketing, CPA, Social Media, Local/Offline Businesses, web site design, etc, etc - and what I learned is that you have to find one that you feel comfortable with and concentrate on that to the exclusion of all the distractions constantly coming at you with Get Rich Quick offers.

I also spent several months, some years ago, studying Forex, operating a "demo account", and seeing if I could earn a living with it. From that experience I can tell you that the only people who make anything from Forex are those selling systems, methods, software, robots, etc, that they claim will let you make a fortune. Theoperator is right. The Forex market IS rigged. It's dominated by a few huge multinational banks employing hardened traders who have millions to trade with. They can afford to ride out the volatility of the market when it moves against them. Even they only average a 30 per cent profit per year. Okay, 30 per cent is good, but it's nothing like what you're promised when you buy the latest Forex course, software, etc.

If you go into Forex you'll lose all your money within 6 months at the most. So keep your money and stay with Internet Marketing, which isn't easy, but at least if you persist you have a good chance of success. And it won't rob you of all your money.

I beg to differ with you. I make Forex robots and have been for years and they do well because they have very strict money management. I also have traded manually and have turned $100 into $400 on a small run for 3 weeks. Forex you can turn a small amount of money into allot because of the leverage! I have not lost money in years! Stay away from Market Maker brokers and only go with ECN brokers! Market Makers manipulate the price and make you lose by manipulating the price feed. ECN brokers don't do that! Forex is very lucrative I know allot of people who have made very good money at it!

Which made you the most money - trading Forex or selling the robots? And did Forex make you good profits long term? It's comparatively easy to get lucky in Forex and make profits for 3 weeks. It's also easy to lose all your money in less than that time. Could go either way. That's Forex for you.

It's always hard for a new person trying to learn something new. Perhaps, should you identify your interest first?

Although Forex trading too me is risky, but I'll need to invest the time to study to reduce the risk. However, I do not have an interest towards forex trading...

Same goes with Internet Marketing, It's interesting to me, let keep it simple by investing in tools and build an audience.... later on you endorse the right products that could change people life.

There are also some problems to it when there are marketer will always endorse "How I Make $100 Per Day" system...

then the next day "How I Make $13,597 Per Day" with a complete new system...

That could be the risk when a person coming to learn about Internet Marketing

    Therefore:

    1. Do you love Forex Trading / Internet Market?
    2. Should you dedicate your time towards what you love to do?
    3. Are you doing too many things at once?

The fastest way to is to find somebody already done what you want to do...

Well, Internet Marketing is more sustainable than forex. Forex is just too emotion reliant (the biggest challenge of any human being to control it)

Only professionals can win from Forex consistently.

Take 1 hour daily to learn internet marketing you can't be wrong.

With internet marketing skills, you can use it for your own offline businesses too.

It's definitely better to invest your time in internet marketing.

I myself run a digital marketing agency after learn internet marketing skills back then.

I traded forex too. But realised it's much easier to earn money from internet marketing.

    Hope it helps.

Yes, everybody has their like and dislike of something, including inclination of certain skills and feeling easy of doing certain thing over the others. Some people like Forex, while some feel that Forex is not their cup of tea. well, there's no right or wrong, really.

We know ourselves better and we should go with what we feel is the best for us to succeed. If in doubt, try and understand both and see which fits well for us.

Hey buddy, I am a full time CPA marketer and I trade forex at the same time too. Forex used to be my full-time income source, well because obviously over 50% of my income came from there.

Last year, my CPA is doing better than I expected. So they kinda "switch" places :-P
Haha! Anyway I have been trading since the year 2009, to be honest to you, there is nothing such as "BEST SYSTEM" in forex.

To make money in the market, you have to master "MONEY MANAGEMENT". Without a proper money management strategy, you won't go far even if you have the "best" system in the world.

One more thing before I call it a night (it is 2+AM my time haha), imagine this:

You supposedly give the "BEST" system to 50 traders and put them in the same room. In the end of the day, all of their trading results will be different. Why? Because their money management is different than one another.

Which leads me to talk about "MONEY MANAGEMENT" again. With a proper MM, you will be profitable even if the system only wins 45% of the time. You just need a good money management, that's what I m saying lol. I realize that I started to sound like a broken recording now haha...

Anyway, goodnight and have a good day :-)

Internet marketing is building your business. Forex trading is something like speculating/gambling. Both of them equally need a lot of learning and practice to be successful. If you are busy and don't have much spare time to learn about IM, I assume you don't have much time to learn about forex trading too. Well that sounds risky to me. You may lose big in it.

Your problem is not IM, it is that you are susceptible to being seduced by shiny objects, apparent easy money. For starters, Forex - any trading - is not about money, it is about psychology, which is the most important asset in trading.

Trading is 99% psychology, the psychology of managing your emotions, which includes being able handle big (and small) losses too. Your comment about having no patience to build a solid IM business suggests that I could almost guarantee that you would let emotion get the better of you WHEN, not if, you had those losses. Good traders trade to TRADE WELL, not to make money, HOWEVER, they know and understand that money is the by product of good trading psychology.

IM or Forex - either way will cost you a MASSIVE amount of time, but here's the thing... you can study how to build a long-lasting IM business without losing you shirt along the way.

Want to re-assess how you invest your time?

Too many fraud for forex as the marketer can earn many. no such auto-pilot system for forex. U can trust some solo traders and use chart tool and maybe some open analysis but not for those fraud marketers. as they market only, not focus on forex.

after i read rich dad poor dad (early twenties), i was on the hunt for affordable assets to collect.. of course in this pursuit you come across all sorts of scam..

one of the legitimate and affordable ways is through Forex.. unfortunately a lot of it was just so difficult and out of my hands..

anyways, if you've had success with it, then congrats!

    Hello there,

Forex sees you the beauty of making money fast (of course, if time permits you to see the beauty). IM lets you see the wonder of making money constantly (once you devote your time, effort, passion, patience, and everything necessary!)

So it's up to you what you are willing to take.

IM is a much larger domain. If you want to be successful in IM, you need to focus on a smaller part of this domain (eg: social media or SEO) and not try to take it is a whole. Forex, on the other hand, can be compared with a smaller part of IM, therefore, it would like it's easier to start with. But, I personally doubt that it can offer the same growth options that IM does.

I disagree, IM is high risk too.

Some people spend years trying to market something nobody wants.. All that time is now gone..

Forex trading is like gambling while internet marketing is long-term investing. Small internet marketers can build a legitimate business with little investment in money but big investment in time; while in forex trading small traders need to invest quite a sum money that has a big risk of being wiped out.

I personally do both of them but I think it's really not comparable. Keep in mind that Forex is pretty stressful when it's against you and you have high leverage.

Don't blame op. You research the topic "of making money online" for hours, which turns into days, then weeks. After all that time investment you feel little more knowledgeable than you were the first day.

98% of what you read is people telling you how to make money... IF you subscribe to their list and/or buy their product for $17 which is a black hole that leaves you none the wiser. Most are making money off the endless stream of people looking to make money online.

to help you out op, at some point you have to stop reading and start taking action. making money online is like a real business. supply and demand. people have a problem you solve their problem for a cost. Start taking action.

    get a domain
    install a wordpress theme
start posting content that solves peoples problems
    start promoting the site
build a email list from the beginning

newbies are guilty of buying a domain, getting a theme, but then they see that blank blog and then they just shut down. force yourself to keep posting. after your blog starts looking like a blog and less like a desolate wordpress framework that'll encourage you to get more engaged, and market more. gotta get over that first hurdle though.

For me, I will choose internet marketing any time. You are comparing it in such a way that it is not supposed to. IM is hard work while Forex is a gamble. Hard work will eventually pay off but gambling could take away everything you have worked for.

I can see the attraction of forex trading over internet marketing for people who don't like marketing and don't like selling! However, your reason that internet marketing is "too much time consuming and vague" means Forex trading may not also be for you. You also need discipline to learn to trade forex and see through bad mental habits or ways your brain can trick you (such as 'survivorship bias' that tricks you into thinking your system was good when it was just due to randomness. People also have the tendency to convince themselves to take a trade that isn't worth taking.

Ultimately, if that's how you see things then, that's exactly how things will work for you. Internet marketing will require a lot of work, but eventually will function on its own as you make it effective. Meanwhile, Forex trading could be a win or lose thing at the end of each trading session.

Unless you are billionaire you will lose money on Forex Trading. Forex Trading is a ponzi scheme where filty rich people get more money from people that have some money to waste and poor people.

It is rigged system. For example bug banks can decide what to do with Dollar. They send alert and news that dollar will grow and then everyone goes out and act but in same time they are release they money and keeping the dollar actually drop, after it dives so deep that this poor and not so rich peple need to get out and cut their loses then they stop and dollars goes back up.

Please dont be naive, Forex Trading is like Gambling. But when you you gamble you have odds against you, here you have a whole rigged system against you.

Forex trading is NOT a ponzi scheme. Yes, I would agree that it's some sort of gambling, although you have much more control compared to playing the lottery, but I'm sure there are a lot of people who make a living trading, so if hasn't worked for you or you have no idea what you're talking about, then there's no need to confuse people with poor information.

  • Whichever of this one will give you the Pros and Cons, and it will always depend on you on how will you manage each one of them. But if you'll ask which of these, I am more into Forex trading. Yes, this is risky but then once you've learned the secret of it, this won't be hard fo you especially if you are really serious in doing it.

I work as a internet-marketing specialist remotely, but still 9-5 or even more hours each day and I love it. But I agree it is really time-consuming. On the other hand, trading is faster to get start, but it much more complicated to learn how not to lose all you've deposited...
So, in terms of some more extra money - I'de advise to invest in PAMM, Indices etc rather than trade.
    Or change your job

Forex trading and internet marketing are two different skills and two different vehicles to ride.

I am surprised you brought up forex trading in a marketing/entrepreneur forum. Maybe internet marketing just isn't your cup of tea? as with others forex trading isn't their cup of tea

A solid "hear hear" for this one.

There's a fair bit of misinformation on both topics, especially in the dominant forums for each. The fact is though, a small percentage of players make money in both, and in a very high percentage of cases the players worked like crazy, and learned like crazy, and never gave up.

This is not a guess.. I have met and worked with people who have been successful in marketing their business online, and also who have made money in FOREX. A couple have done both!

Obviously a few people get lucky, but they're outliers and I'm discounting them for the purposes of this conversation.

To get back to the original question "Forex vs IM":

IMO I believe the OP has been misinformed. IM is not a business per se, but a channel via which you can advertise a business. You could choose to advertise your business in magazines, or on tv.. or on the internet, which is what Internet Marketing really is.

Unfortunately, over the years, Internet Marketing has been turned into some sort of get rich quick scheme based on fads, tricks, and short term exploitation of loopholes. Certainly this is how it's sold to those who are new to the field.

Advertising is advertising is advertising.. its job is to provide exposure to a product or service, and therefore I don't see it as being a business of its own.

So FMM if you don't have a business, or don't plan to build a long term business that you can use IM to promote, then you're better off with FOREX.

Of course you lose all the benefits that come with building a successful business such as lots of cashflow, and the building up of a real asset you can sell or borrow against. And worst of all, unless you become awesome at FOREX you'll also be giving up the chance of never having another boss again!

You only get one shot at life - make it awesome.

Everyone else also gets just one crack at it - help make theirs awesome too... or, politely step out of their way.

      Exactly... Plus...
      • the thread is 4 months old
      • OP only made one reply in the first 24 hours and has never responded since
      • OP never thanked anyone (probably because most people were telling him the truth)

I also know people who make $500K per month from Forex. Yes, you read that right. That was some years ago.

He asked me about internet marketing and how much profit it could make him. I told him you're doing great if you can make $50K a month. He then said with those figures, it doesn't interest him. So I asked him how much he makes and why wouldn't it interest him. Then he told me he makes $500K a month from Forex. Oh yes, this guy has many computer screens in his house to monitor his trades and a PA, and he has many properties and businesses. Oh, and he has many cars as well.....

Internet marketing is not what it is cracked up to be, because of one simple reason - ANY Tom/Dick/Harry can enter....and there is so much BS going around. Be careful.

For example in this forum, there are many, and I mean many plants here who diligently delete posts if they don't "align" with "love" and "light".

Nice comments...I had the same dilemma. I have chosen fx and worked hard for 3 years learning. I managed to become consistent. Now I have a mission to succeed in IM. I am using $ earned in fx to make IM campaigns. That way I easily accept my failures (easy come easy go).
