Completely annoying Firefox issue - Please help!

Hi guys

My Firefox has started going mental in the last few hours.

Everytime I visit a webpage, it automatically goes back to the page I was on previously. It's kind of like pressing the "Back" button without actually pressing it.

Sometimes it leaves me on a page for 30 seconds, sometimes it takes me back instantly.

It's very frustrating and means I can't get any work done.

I've also tried Internet Explorer and it does exactly the same thing.

Could it be a virus? If so what should I install to get rid of it?

I know there are a lot of techies on here that could possibly help.

Would really appreciate any help.

Thanks,
James

try crap cleaner at ccleaner.com for free download

analyze and clean your applications and then sweep the registry.

this will rule out caching and registry issues.

    reboot your pc

then if it is still doing that you should run a scan to see if there is a virus.

if you have a virus then there are lots of programs you can use to try to recover, short of reinstalling Windows (worst case) - Just google 'removing a virus' - that is if KimW or seasoned don't come along with the programs they use to remove viruses.

    i wouldn't touch IE with a 10 foot pole.

...and you know what I do when FF gives me issues? I use Google Chrome.

    Good luck.

I think Patricia is right. Try the registry scan first, then the malware/virus scan.

I haven't experienced anything like that in FireFox nor IE, but it could be any number of potential problems ranging from malware to keyboard/mouse remapping.

If you don't have anti-virus software, just be wary of any you download and make sure it comes from a reputable source.

    Thanks to both of you.

I did a number of scans for Adware, Malware, Spyware and any other type of Ware there is and nothing was found, but the problem seems to have fixed itself now.

    Thanks a lot,
    James
