Anyone here into crypto currency? Bitcoin :)

Hi all,

The banking system as we know it will no longer exist in the near future. Crypto currency is the future of money and will soon replace fiat currency. Bitcoin, for example, is becoming more widely adopted. There are currently Bitcoin ATMs popping up in the U.S. as we speak.

Is anyone investing in crypto currency?

To analogize crypto currency, I would say that crypto currency is to the banking system what Netflix was to Blockbuster Video stores. Do we see any Blockbuster Video stores currently? Nope ha ha.

Anyway, I would love to hear your thoughts on this subject.

Your not making good money. Your seeing a perceived increase in the value of your crypto currency. You should at least know what it is and what it isn't if you are going to lose your, uh, I mean invest in something. It's not 'money.'

Ask Janice Yellen about that. lol

I'll say it one last time, hopeful that it might sink in. Bitcoin ain't money. It simply doesn't meet any of the monetary or legal requirements to be considered as such. But you go on believing what you choose. At least when it reaches zero, you won't have actually lost any money - cause it ain't money. Have I mentioned that? :-)

You haven't made anything until you convert them into cash - you know, actual money.

If all you've got is bitcoins in a wallet, then that's all you've got, bitcoins in a wallet. If someone is willing to pay you over $5k for each of those coins, you actually have to sell them to have made any money.

The same can also be said about share, bond, real estate or even managed fund portfolios. The difference between them and bitcoins is they actually generate cash in the form of dividends, rent or interest.

Another difference between them and cryptocurrencies is banks are willing to accept these as collateral for loans.

Try taking out a mortgage using the bitcoins in your wallet as security. They'll require you to convert them into acceptable collateral like shares, bonds, property, managed funds or even cash before lending you a cent.

Until banks accept them as security for a loan, they will never be money. This is why they are called cryptocurrency, rather than currency.

That is hilarious considering how many millionaires and billionaires the stock market has created.

You can use the value of your stock to borrow money to acquire more stocks. You can use the dividends you receive from your stock to buy more stocks, or even websites.

So no, you don't need to sell in order to buy other stuff.

I should have come back here sooner, l didn't realize that the goon squad was in town.

Yeah, the Stockmarket makes millionaires and also when a crash is due, destitues others.

Henry Ford had an odd $300 m, in 1929 from his car manufacturing business, and since he didn't listen to his idiot son, still had it in 1930!

Many others lost everything, and more still lost their jobs and their bank money on top of it.

Most people go all in on Bitcoin. Like the Initial coin offerings to get rich. They want to be overnight millionaires. My investments in cryptocurrency is money that was going to be spent at WaWa coffee or somewhere else. I have cashed out some bitcoin to buy other cryptos. About to cash out of some Ether to recoup my initial investment and turn a little profit into hard cold cash.

I'm sure a few corrections in price is going to hit bitcoin. There are 2 forks in the next several weeks. Maybe the speculators are thinking they will end up with bitcoin gold when the fork occurs. Like they did when bitcoin cash was created. I guess a table for one is going to happen for me.
