Are you Sisyphus or Prometheus in Internet Marketing?

Here's a quick reminder who is who here. Sisyphus is that unfortunate guy who had to push an immense rock up to the hill and then watch follows him as he goes down that same hill. And so over and over again with no breaks, holidays, or paid overtime. On the other hand, you have Prometheus, who did some great things for the mankind. Among other things he was able to steal the fire from the gods and share it with the people. What happened to him after he got caught after that is another story.

So, the symbolism is pretty much obvious. Marketers who are constantly and unsuccessfully rolling up and down the business hills have much in common with the poor Sisyphus. When it comes to marketers, who didn't invent the fire, but they discovered the flame of success, we associate them with Prometheus. To make the long story short, I will begin by saying that I have been a helpless Sisyphus for as long as I know. I think that's something I shouldn't be ashamed of. That's just the way my things currently are for the numerous more or less known reasons. At least I'm being painfully honest about it.

In a way, I believe that is better to be surrounded with honest Sisyphus type marketers than with the disillusioned Prometheus marketers. They are caught in the vicious circle of self-promotion and self-convincing about their alleged greatness and achievements. For what is worth there are some truly successful Prometheus marketers who have proven their point and success. They have no slightest desire to convince themselves or others about their achievements because their success speaks for itself. Unfortunately and realistically we are talking about the minority report when it comes to these successful guys.

So, here is a simple question. Which one are you? Can you identify yourself more with the role of Sisyphus or Prometheus in your IM situation? Why?

Easy Sisyphus, and as you have said, been pushing a bolder up a hill for quite a while.

About 8.5 years online and a lot longer than l care to mention offline.

Amit Meta, PPC Marketing, used to use the pushing a bolder up a hill reference, and stated that any new business is like that initially, but if you persist then you will eventually push the bolder over the hill and success will be easier to grasp.

I thing most people don't get is, regardless of whether you have to ditch one avenue, for another to persist for months or even years, to become a success, you are learning.

Try enough things online and you will eventually come across something that has worked for others and should work for you if you keep at it!

Success is a long, hard slog, but worth it in the end!

So, this is an interesting idea. There's a hope that an average Sisyphus can jump into the Prometheus marketing zone. Ah, this one puts a smile on the face, lol. Maybe, the most appropriate title for the next thread should be how long it took you to reach your marketing Olympus, lol. Appreciated.
