Transhumanism, the future of mankind?

Ive found this interesting topic in the news yesterday, and I would really like to discuss it with you.

Have you heard about Transhumanism? Is a new trend that is founding its way in some places, its is also known as biohacking or wetware, and its basically a philosophy that deals with the posthuman condition, its followers claim the evolution of mankind will depend on technology and not so much in biological factors, they say he human body must be enhanced with technology to improve its skills and senses. So far, they are not claiming anything that other people has been saying in the past.

However, the thing about Transhumanist, is that besides talking about it, they also act: they use microchips and other technologies to enhance their bodys and create the evolution they talk about, they use their bodys as an experiment field, were they test technologies and improvements. For them, its a way to accelerate the upcoming evolution, instead of just waiting come company start thinking about this.

Their actions raise a lot of ethical dilemmas, but their main argument seems to be quite solid: they have control of their bodys, and theyhave the legal capability of performing these experiments.

There is a particular case of this that is fascinating me, a blogger named Lepht is one of the most renown Transhumanist in the world, an a real pioneer of this tendency. She has made more than 50 operations on her own body, to install a series of microchips and other devices, its just crazy.

She began to do this experiments a little more than ten years ago, there is a photo of this first intervention, but im not going to post it here because its quite graphic, you can google it if you want to see it. Some of the interventions she had includes the installation of several chipsets in her hands, that allow her to feel the distance between her hand and near objects, and she also installed a payment chip on there, that allow her to pay things using NPC technology, its just crazy.

Using this interventions, Lepht has added several new senses to her body, she can feel the distance between objects and her hands, and she can even detect the temperature of those objects.

Lepht claims her main objective with these experiments, is to gather data and information that could be use in the future by corporations to design the evolution of the human body.

This last point is actually quite interesting, imagine the enormous ammount of data that would be generated if that kind of technology gets to the public, if Transhumanism is really the future of man kind, then Big Data will surely be a huge part of it.

What do you think about this? Will Transhumanism really be the next evolution of man kind? What would the consequences of that be?

I believe all of this is worthy of a debate.

Josef Mengele would be so happy with these 'improvements' to the human body.

Doesn't the phrase 'corporations to design the evolution of the human body' scare the s*** out of you?

Not near as much as the term "government" trying to fix or do anything.

Yes, Corporations, so far they have hidden or buried research done showing that Genes, respond to changing environments.

So they can crap on about a genetic illness being bad luck and you have to use our s***.

And the word "Cure" being copyrighted, eventhough most don't release that, when they say "we don't have a cure for that" they are really saying that there is probably a cheap cure, but we don't have it.

Not to mention all of the crap around sun exposure!

More power, to sell more of their S**t, is all l can see.

Their actions raise a lot of ethical dilemmas...
It seems to me that most ethical dilemmas are created by people trying to impose their (broken?) moral standards on others.
