Strange Product Placement in Doctor Strange Movie

First things first, I have nothing against product placement in the movies. This is a legit way to support your movie with the additional movie. Yet, this is something you should in a thoughtful and subtle way. Right? This isn't something that's supposed to be too obvious and annoying. Right again?

So, I just saw Doctor Strange. I think this is the first time, I saw a direct ad. It was shown before the movie began, it wasn't even the ad in a traditional sense. It was something like, this movie was brought to you by some smartphone. I forgot. I saw it for the first time. I think it's some Chinese model, but that's not the point. Does it have to be so direct? The movie itself gives you countless opportunities to do it more than once when an opportunity presents itself. For example, Doctor Strange drives a Lamborghini. This could have been any other luxury car. His lifestyle asks for it. So, you have a creative product placement freedom to choose. The producers didn't have to be so "brutal" with this smartphone advertisement move. Or, maybe they didn't have a choice.

Maybe, some guys making smartphones jus came and said, we're gonna rain you the ridiculous amounts of money, if you do this and that. Again, this is a legit thing to do. Yet, I miss the good old days, when you had to cry your eyes out and think really hard so you can figure out a careful product placement in a movie you're watching. What's next? In the middle of a movie, your superhero is going to stop and say, I will continue my epic struggle against the villains, but first let me just say that this product is great. This is a shameless exaggeration, but it doesn't mean it won't happen a reality some day.

What are your thoughts and feelings about product placement? Do you feel betrayed or intrigued by this advertisement in disguise?

Your title is misleading. It was not a product placement in a movie. It was an ad before a movie.

WTF are you talking about? There was no disguise. It was a blatant ad before a movie. They were not hiding anything.

It's smart by the marketers. It gives them an opportunity to sell region specific advertising based on where the movie is showing.

My point is that it would be more effective if some guy in that temple handed over this phone, can't recall the brand name, to Doctor Strange. This way you kill all the magic. Thought I was safe in a movie theater and that when the ads are over, they're over and I can watch the film. That's it.

At least he didn't claim that Dr Strange was a horror movie, like Speed and Con Air.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

I know English is not your first language but if you insist on spitting out these stories at the current rate, then you should at least try and make them readable...

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.
