    I have owned 2 Cockatiels. They are immensely talented birds in both whistling tunes and talking.

    Best to get a male one if your female or vice versa if your male.

    They tend to sense that and bond better. Not so good for your spouse though.

    Cockatiels and Parrots are like that. Budgies don't give a flying fig though.
