Planet in star system nearest our Sun 'may have oceans'

Where there is oceans....

If Stephen Hawking gets his intersteller idea off the drawing board, we might be getting close up images of an Earth like planet within the next 30 years.

20 years to get there, 4 for a return image, but worth the weight.

Dinosaurs, aliens or green stuff, time will tell.

    There is water. It only "may" have oceans. To think anything beyond that is pretty fanciful. Even if these alleged oceans contain life, it won't be anything like our oceans. To get something like ours, exactly the same, or a similar sequence of events would have had to have taken place. The chances of that are pretty (ahem) astronomical.

    Anyway, by the time we find out, our oceans will be graveyards.

      ...and who's to say similar sequences of events haven't happened all over the universe? There may be oceans, there may be life, and the idea is pretty interesting. If there's life, it may or may not resemble life here, but any life would be extremely interesting and exciting.

      Personally, I think there's life "out there" somewhere, and likely other intelligent life (if you would be so gracious as to consider earth life intelligent). I don't think aliens are visiting us, however.

      At any rate, it's fun to think about, and if you can't be fanciful in your thinking about what lies beyond our world, what can you be fanciful about?
