I wonder if Allen Says ever visits the WF incognito. I'm glad he cashed out, but it must be painful to see what has become of his WF.

Lol. I hope not. He created an amazing community here and I hope it will continue. For instance we have KayKing who has been an amazing contributor since the beginning . (I'm sure there are several more: )

I don't think so.... I'm thinking he knew it was time to move on , and it pains him. Allen Says is responsible for much more greatness than we even know, or could probably comprehend... In the end , as Rudyard Kipling eludes to in the poem "if", Allens will will have lived beyond his flesh and nerve and sinew.... his life has spawned greatness... He knew that it's better to burn out , than to fade away. He is already a success by all other means, regardless of money. He will have lived as a phenomenon, visionary, and highly successful entrepreneur and creative mind. Not only one of the greats, but at one of the greatest turning points in history.

Brilliant, timeless. He is related to a multitude of success, he was the host for THOUSANDS to succeed...

I don't think he is laughing at all.... I think he was smart to get out, but full of compassion, and actual LOVE for the warrior forum.

That's a bit too deep for my shallow little mind. It's just a forum. :-) Not responsible for any greatness that I know.

Sorry to say Allen had a great time making the forum to what IT was now it will never be the way it was and people need to see this

The forum is now corporate run so what the nuance was before they have been removed so the buffoonery can run the circus now

    Shame was a great place

It truly is SAD because Allen was an excellent admin and all round great guy.
He understood what it takes to really run a forum and achieve great success through the interactions between members.

    Hi all,

I don't want to sound too generic here, but the team is completely focused on building the forum back up to the level that it was at. I'm really keen to hear about any ideas and suggestions that you guys have that'll help us achieve that, and in particular I'd love to hear about any of the previous subtleties that aren't around any more.

      Hi Tim

The problem you will have is that the people who ran the forum the mods and the admin that was the forum

The mods used to join the conversation in the threads and delete a lot of the crap threads that are on the min board before they were posted

You could use any payment method in the WSO sub forum
One of the biggest issues here is that there are way too many sub forums that now since FL took over that are useless IMHO

The war room used to be $27 for 40 yrs , I am sure others will add there lot I am missing

Tim, I'd recommend that you read through Alistair and Dan Silvestre's post histories. You'll find numerous conversations containing the exact information you seek. They were offered insights by many of the WF regulars who have since left due to the changes made. Within those comments you'll find discussions of the subtlety and nuance of the forum during its golden years.

We've been hearing that for years now.
You let us know when you're going to start then I'm sure
there will be plenty of ideas.
But there isn't any point if we're still at the same place in another
      2 or 3 years.

You could start by training some mods to recognise the junk
posters who just post for sig file exposure.
I reported one today but nothing has been done.
It's so obvious what's going on to everyone except it seems the mods here.
They shouldn't even need reporting they are so obvious.

How do you measure that? What was the level, say in US inches, it was at 36, a yardstick...and now it is apparently, by your own statement, at a much lower level 20, 15, 5?

One problem is, you are about numbers, the reason for the purchase, a million members is significant in the world of data mining.

And those numbers translate somehow into dollars. We've watched how you, the corp., have monetized the WF for your dollar benefit, the obvious way to flood the forum with new members, from all over the world, and you have paid people to write content (not a bad idea, but one which was poorly executed)...

So, we really read your ADMIN post with a grain of salt tossed over our shoulders, as has been pointed out, been an ongoing "statement" of going to, and very little DOING of.

As for the subtleties, well, you can't nuance personality, which the WF had through it's many diverse personalities, many have fled...a big corporation just doesn't have the ability for subtleties.

It does have the capacity to monitor, to have clear cut guidelines and also has the ability to create a how to use the forum guide, which has been a suggestion offered to all of you admins over the years, and one which has been completely ignored, so we are forced to see the constant...

where do I start? I'm a new, what do I do? posts which could easily be eliminated and at the same time offer some help to your new members, but it appears to be of little interest to you. To those who have been here, it is like nails on a chalkboard. Can you see the difference?

Yep, the previous mod, said something similar, l believe that he was all for, making this forum great again.

We offered plenty of suggestions, and were ignored. And some changes were made, that most didn't like and were also ignored, (our feedback).

I admit they have a tough job.
And I would remind you, it is a JOB. They are limited, as any employee is, as to what they can and can't do.

In a big corporation, there could be several layers of mgmt, and a chain of command and then, god forbid, a committee to review and pass on suggestions.

So, I try not to focus on a mod, employees come and go. But it is at a higher level of management, where the guy is responsible for the profitability of the division, where his JOB is determined by his results...and the risks he is willing to take and either enjoy or suffer his decision making consequences.

The mod can only kick your ideas up the chain of command, and, as you and others have noted, they seem to be quickly tossed in the trash.

I'd bet you'll see several new mods in the coming months, as this division of the company comes under fire for under producing.

Yes, and we get a new employee, in a new division, rolling up his sleeves, (which is noteworthy) but in the end, nothing changes.

Very few actually. 87% of the shares are controlled by two people. That only leaves 13% of the shares available for traders/investors. No-one could actually buy enough to make daytrading worthwhile. If they did buy enough to make it worthwhile, the share price would move dramatically, and would throw up all sorts of red flags. The ASX (Australian Securities Exchange) would be issuing "WTF is going on?" letters to the company each time someone made a play, once again rendering the exercise pointless.

Right now I'm reporting straight to the CEO on Warrior. There are no committees, and I've got a lot of leeway to make changes. I think the most obvious problem is that we've generally been pretty bad at communicating, so I've been jumping into as many threads as possible (whilst still doing other work). I've no intention of slowing down there, and in fact I want the rest of the Warrior team to start posting more as well.

I didn't know that the smileys were unpopular (although I see what you mean, especially with the yellow one) . They aren't really on my radar to fix right now , but here's the broad themes of what we will be working on over the next few weeks.

    30/1 - Fight spam
6/2 - Restructure nav, change feed vs forum to a toggle (forum users should never see feed)
13/2 - Improved moderation guidelines and systems
20/2 - Roll out new user content to slow down repetitive new user posts

I think a lot of what we'll be doing will address the stuff you've been asking for. I'll start posting more in the 'Warrior News' section to keep you up-to-date with exactly what we're changing week-to-week.

Paul Myers? Not to my knowledge, plus the account usage that I can see does look consistent with someone checking in every now and then.

As for Allen, the admin account was taken, as were a few other admin/mod accounts. I think there's still an Allen Says account that he owns though, but I'm far from certain.
