What do you do when... (funny story)

I just thought this was funny, and thought I would share...

Hired someone to do some work, for simplicity let's say make a cheeseburger. You wait, wait and wait. Finally they come back to you and say "Your meal is done!". You are excited to see the juicy cheeseburger you were expecting. They then tell you "oh no, actually we didn't make you a cheeseburger, we thought you would much better like a pizza instead, so made that for you."

I kind of had to laugh. Obviously going to be requesting the guy re-do the work, but "correctly" to specs.

Do any of you have similar to stories to share?

Cheers!

That situation often seems to happen Tina.

There's always so much enthasis on the product providers feedback rating, testimonials etc, but to hire quality, you (the buyer) have to demonstrate this also.

I'm sure in this particular occasion the brief was specific tho, can't really mistake a burger for a pizza

          Lol --- actually -- no...

          I was *very* specific.

The guy actually came back and said "Well, I know you wanted *this* done, but, I actually decided to do this instead because, well, I felt like it and thought maybe this is what you want instead"... lol

And so I was thinking to myself, hmm, interesting.

Then you should go back to him and say "I know you were expecting to be paid $x.xx, but I decided to pay you $y.yy instead.

            That should "cure" him.

Tina, me too! I was just going to post that as a response when I saw your comment.

I do enjoy having creative control - and most of my clients have been pleased with what I come up with - but sometimes not. It can be exasperating when it happens.

        Uh, no.

I agree with you. I have been on the 'other' end as well (doing assignments, etc) -- and had people say they want something done, then when it's done 'try' to change their mind, etc, etc.

Some people are just too stubborn or don't listen enough, which are for me the 2 worse mistakes a provider can do... In that case, I kick immediately.
