Apple Of My Eye - Badfinger

We all remember the big Badfinger hits "Come And Get It", "No Matter What"
and "Day After Day". Well, this is one of those rare Badfinger singles that got
no airplay at all and it's one of their best, if not one of their most commercial
tunes.

I remember having to go into the city to pick this up. I mean, NOBODY had
this record. Hell, nobody even knew what I was talking about when I asked
for it.

      This was back in the day when Tom Evans was the main lead singer. As time
      went on, they began to realize that Pete Ham had the more commercial
      sound and thus began a string of hits featuring him. Tom was kind of pushed
      to the background.

      This band's history is probably one of the saddest stories in rock music. They
      never got the recognition they deserved and ultimately Pete and Tom
      committed suicide only a short time apart.

      Mike passed away a few years ago. Only Joey remains.

      Just goes to show you, it's not always a glamorous life.

        I remember having to order this album. It took 8 weeks to arrive!

        The Beatles, who signed them up to the Apple label, considered them one of their prime finds. You can hear the influence of John and Paul on quite a few of their songs.

        What a pity their manager was such a scumbag...

        Which, ultimately, led to the suicides I believe..

    I and my friends were fans of Badfinger. I have their first 2 albums. (Lp's). I'm always reminded of the movie Magic Christian when I hear Come & Get It. Hilarious spoof with Peter Sellers and Ringo. Thanks for the memories.
