What's Your Biggest Lesson You Learned In This Online Industry?

I focused on creating products/services, but didn't know how to get traffic, all day, day-to-day. And, it really damaged my efforts. So, I learned all the traffic secrets, bought books, courses, and etc, and now I drive unlimited amount of traffic to my offers.

Since, you need to people; you need to put your offer in front of them. Don't expect your target audience to find you and open their wallets.

This was the lesson!

For me I should say, a good planning is the key but good timing is more important. I've started doing online business 2 years ago at age of 18. Clients offering projects come and go but at the end of the day even if you planned everything perfectly, a wrong timing in finding clients or even launching a product is one of the main factor why startups fail.

The biggest lesson I have learned so far is that taking action is the most important(and hardest) thing to do. Watching videos, reading books, using social media, etc. do not directly earn me money. They might give me knowledge so I can be more effective when I finally do take action, but that's all they do.

I'm in the process of trying to take remedy this problem, but it is hard! I think fear of failure is a big part of it. It's hard to "fail" at watching a video, but it is much easier to fail with a product.

But, at least failing with a product would mean I took action, made something and released it. Like you said, it's important to master the art of failure and look at failure as a friend and teacher.

There is No Such Thing as Failure, there are only Lessons. Failure is the spice that adds exquisite taste to success. The ONLY difference between a Super Successful Affiliate Marketer, and the lesser successful ones...is TIME!

I would say the biggest lesson I learned was to create systems (sales funnels.) At the end of the day, every successful business online uses well made marketing systems to succeed.

I know "the money is in the list" phrase sounds cliche, but data capture at the end of a successful marketing system truly is key.

i spent thousands of dollars on courses, hiring mentors....but totally a waste of money. started having my own knowledge , now my biggest failure is i know most of the thing but unable to streamline things. i AM earning but no much to quit my job and depend of internet source of income

I think mine is similar.
I used to be scared of rejection/failure. It was hard to get used to it.

Now for me, I just go by "you haven't failed until you've quit" and I don't quit!

My lessons is
not to jumpt to system into systems... BUT

to stick to EMAIL MARKETING!

And ive wasted a lot of time in other systems before knowin it

Apart from gaining the initial knowledge and understanding of the internet environment I think focus and disciplined action are the key things for moving forward. 'Fear' is the biggest thing that holds you back

It is all too easy to get distracted and lose focus chasing either the next great 'thing' or become absorbed in some distracting trivia that flashes past you on the screen.

As others have said in one management text 'Stick to the knitting'

For me, the biggest lesson is DON'T QUIT. Keep doing whatever you know best. After 10 years of struggling, I finally got it right.

Healthy skepticism.

I spent well over a decade failing at IM.

By spend I mean spending years, and an embarrassing amount of money, buying countless IM courses. Spending a huge amount of time listening and re-listening to a wide range of IM 'gurus'. Spending enormous effort in endlessly trying to make those IM courses return a decent income.

Ironically it was only when i became totally cynical about the whole IM world that something happened, by chance, to change everything completely for me. I then went from being an addicted consumer of all things IM related to being a genuine entrepreneur.

Thankfully, I went from someone who sporadically earned a little money from IM to owning and managing a 6 figure a month, on average, ecommerce company.

I'm still almost totally dismissive of a lot of the crap that counts as IM. I estimate that accounts for about 90% of courses and 'gurus'. Finally I now see much more clearly and trust my own instincts.

Yep, I agree Failure is a huge part of the equation. Without it, you are really doomed. It teaches you what to do in the future....i.e what works and what does not and what to do and what to NOT do next time

Yep, a few posters here, with newbies lapping it up. Maybe l should go to the graphics part of this forum, and post something about flyers?

You know....

I could suttly say, "l have done flyers, for about 7 years, but like doing flyers, although flyers isn't what l mainly did, eventhough l am very successful with flyers. Flyers is my life, l wake up seeing my next flyer, although l see flyers in everything. When l look at a sunset, flyers, watching tv flyers, and .....umm, dont worry, yep flyers.

Flyers, flyers, flyers, flyers, flyers,....oh, what the hell, flyers, all day long.

And since posting this sales have shot up 110%, (which tends to sucker a few more newbies in), and the large red, flashing arrows pointing towards my sig, link are examples only....

The sugar is strong here.

I used to assume that because something was "common sense" that everyone would know it and there would be no market for it. Or, that because something could be googled easily (and for free) and answers found - that there was no need to make a product about it.

I was wrong about that. People will pay you for help for something you think is "common sense." People will pay you for info that's available for free if you make it MORE APPROACHABLE and provide support.

It's amazing.

Methods change right away and consistently

The biggest lesson I have learned is that without consistent action you will never succeed in Internet Marketing.

To stop wasting $$$ on cheap information products as a result of SOS. I only ended up with total information overload & completely lost. It wasn't until I drip fed myself the basics that I started grasping concepts. I wasted a lot of time in the beginning, but I learned from my mistakes & am now better for it.
