Do you work on your vacations or just relax?

Just curious. When you take a vacation or trip, do you work? Or just relax?

Personally I always at least do a little work, but try to dedicate most of the time to relaxing. Unless it's a business trip.

If there's free wifi I can't stand to check my emails (I don't think it's vacation if still online). I must vacation to forbidden island with no free wifi to stop me doing online

Lol. Good one! Can't resist the ever-tempting "free wifi". I thought it was just me, turns out it's got a legion of travelers under its spell! lol

Yep, me too, l remember last time when l went to the Gold Coast, (Queensland, AU) and asked do they have an internet PC available, (didn't have a laptop back then).

They said, yes, but in the end, l was just too tired to bother, much easier to watch the palm trees, or a rental movie, or raid the minibar.

Going to a theme park or walking alone the beach wears you out, lol.

But l would probably bring my Laptop up with me next time, just as long as it fits in their safe?

Walking alone eventually gets boring..... ;-)

If paying for one flies your flag, go for it....

I guess that joke flew over your head... :-)

You initially wrote "walking alone the beach." You probably meant to write "walking along the beach."

Same here! Simply because I can't help but think of my unfinished tasks.

I do a lot of fly fishing, and golf. I plan my work so I really do not have anything going on. I am not a product creator so I do not have emails to answer, but if I did I would send out an email blast letting my customers know the dates I would be out of the office, and set my inbox to vacation mode with a similar message

The trouble with working in the sales and marketing industry is there's always that constant voice saying that you'll have to be on, all the time. In my case, I long for that rush you feel whenever a project needs work, or when a sale is closed in the shortest possible time. So vacays are great, you enjoy, take a swim, hang out with family and friends, but there's that tiny urge to answer that phone call and respond to that email, just in case it turns out to be something really, really important! :-)

You could always have your smart phone in your face all day long, as most do when they are walking in a shopping ctr, walking across the freeway, and sitting down at the kitchen table.

It is important to get your R&R, but I know certain industries can allow for good flexibility all the time, but that can come with the price of having to be flexible when your on "vaca time too." When certain successes hinge on timing, its tough to totally unplug. But I also think it is important to make time for yourself.

I relax when I'm vacationing, because it is called vacation. Work is somewhat stressful for me but I keep going with the flow until I finish my task. And when I relax, I leave the stress behind.

A little cause I keep my communications open. Who knows that the next deal on the other side of the line might fund you for a better vacation later?

I haven't had a vacation since 1984. That, said - I did spend 5 hours lallygagging in the lake, yesterday. My only hope is that I can extend that to six hours, today - based on a temp of 94º with a heat index of 105º.

    Enjoy your day. :-)

    Thank you.

  • If work is sex then a vacation is bringin' yourself off by the pool with a fingertip drippin' with sum sweeto cocktail's superdribblo.

If work ain't sex then a vacation is bringin' yourself off by the pool with a fingertip drippin' with sum sweeto cocktail's superdribblo ... but then sum guy shows up anyways.

If work is sum guy showin' up anyways, I would wanna be specific about US TIME an' ME TIME ... an' that would be troo also if'n I was zillionaire, an' the cocktail sniffin' guy & Moi swanked around at will in Permanent Partnership Mode.

"I fulfill you beyond measure," he says.

"But 24/7 shaftin' is way too much -- gimme a break," I replies.

Guy grins an' snorts, kinda Beavis. "From the 24 ... or the 7?"

Way I see it, work an' play swing out on a curious kinda wanna / don't wanna ... passion / nootral ... energy / chillout ... kinda ticket.

Both have free flow, both have limitations on expansiveness, an' it is mebbe all downta the speed an' the seed.

"But not 24/7 ... despite everything?" *snicker*

    Indeed.

Work an' vacation mebbe superimposes a weird kinda biorhythm on ebb & flow processes gowin' on anyways.

"So I'm good to go, fulfilling you beyond measure on a pulsatingly semi-random 24/7 ticket, segueing both my work and recreational schedules with your own, for maximum mutual benefit?"

    Guy looks serious, finally.

But I gotta toss back my head an' take in the lasta my cocktail.

    Jus' cos.

Sun is real hot on my skin, prolly gonna dissolve.

"Butt out, ya creep -- I am relaxin' here."

(That is me talkin', btw, not the 24/7 guy -- he prolly f*cked off long ago, droolin' all over sum buxom blonde gal while I was dual weildin' 50 Shades an' a sub-bikini smoothie.)

Referring Back To The Original Question, Are You Suggesting A Kind Of Blend Here?

You peekin' on Moi, or what?

I am jus' tryin' to tan on out here, K?
